I believe this is a Hilton Garden Inn. It was mentioned recently either on this forum or on the austin business journal or some other outside link. Its not the Marriott you are referring to. I can't find the original article from the past but I believe its a Hilton Garden Inn.

That's a Residence Inn.

Indeed it is. My original comment was wondering about the dormant plans for a Courtyard Marriott on Kramer.

It's odd to me how much the stretch of Burnet north of Braker is actually starting to feel like... well, Burnet. I'm so used to it feeling like a dead zone. Now, the only dead zone is between Braker and 183.

The mobility improvements are badly-needed, though. I never noticed how unwalkable this part of Burnet actually is until recently. If soccer fans tried to walk from the Domain to McKalla Stadium as it is, they'd be walking through parking lots rather than sidewalks.

If I were to do that walk today, I'd do the little jog over on Braker. That may even be the way to go for the first couple of years of the stadium. It sounded like they may have the Burnet/Braker intersection done in time, but the sidewalks along most of the (above 183) sections of Burnet were going to take a while, because of having to add drainage first (close up the ditches).

Braker has sidewalks on both sides west of Burnet (presumably I'd take the north side). Then Domain Dr (with sidewalks) takes you almost immediately to Simon's Domain II (Maggianos, Brass tap, etc.). Further up that to Domain I.

For Rock Rose, you could probably take Newman, Kramer, and then walk through the park. Or Domain Dr/Esperanza/Rock Rose. Domain Parkway is shorter, but it seems likely that will be in the middle of construction.

The mixed use project on 2711 W Anderson Ln (the Chase bank) has filed an expedited review. I don't know if that's progress or not. It's been under review for some time already.

A mixed-use development right there will act as a nice interruption of all the strip malls around there.

Trying to continue to learning the COA building process and also the timeline for the new Domain Towers to be built.

There are two applications for TowerII and TowerIII. The second for Tower II came in last week.

The first is the "Site Plan Administrative" Work Type: Consolidated
The second is the "C- 324 Office, Bank & Professional Bldgs" Work Type: Shell
What its the difference between the two and where does this place us on the construcion time line. FAA permits shows Oct/Nov.

Here are two for Tower III

The first links are for the site plans that must be approved before a project can be built. The second links are for the actual construction permits. The construction permitting is just a necessary process that will be approved rather quickly if the site plan is approved.

The City's E-Review expedited construction permitting process is rather new, and more expensive for the developer. Any project going this route seems (to me anyway) as a project that the developer wants to get started on rather quickly. As far as the bigger projects go, these have filed for an expedited E-Review construction permit:

Block 164
6 x Guadalupe
Hanover Republic Square
44 East
One Austin

Mopacs got a drone! Awesome.

I especially like this one with downtown showing up on the horizon between two buildings.

Wow I really hope they turn that retention pond into some kind of park once construction wraps up. That's a gross looking toxic algae sludge pit right now.

Yes. Someone please god make that pond prettier and less sludgy.

A+ snaps, Mopacs.

Awesome! Yeah, that one showing downtown in the background is the money shot. It also shows the modest density that is developing at the Domain.

Too bad they are going to bulldoze the nice trees in the IBM parking lot to make way for the mid-high rises though.
Before that area of town (before MoPac was built), one of my faculty colleagues owned a 10 acre plot of land just west of the present Domain.

Yes, I heard recently from an Endeavor rep that they are planning landscaping around the pond to make it more of an amenity. I'm not certain that will have an impact in algae though.

Those are big enough that they will have to be saved and relocated (unless I'm misinterpreting Austin's tree code).
