The foundation for this building does not have caissons, it has a matt foundation. So I believe this could be moved to under construction once "foundations" have started which would be in another month or so. This is a large excavation to get down to the elevation of the matt.

Pictures from July 14, 2019. This site is really buttoned up and fenced off, so it's hard to get good pictures. But at least it has a live webcam.

The Laurel's IG page and Facebook will be giving construction updates/interviews with Hunter Roberts and SLC peeps as the building progresses.

Here's video #1:

As to caissons, ConstructStudent posted that it will be a matt foundation.

I am intrigued by the mat foundation. Does anyone know why they are doing this type of foundation? Space? Soil condition?

That might well be true, but there is a drilling rig on site, it's bigger then one that's used for soil samples but doesn't look like a big rig, the sort that was used FMC.

I believe that's currently being used for the installation of the piles for the shoring, and not for caissons.

That video link I posted above pretty much details exactly what is going on right now. I’m not an engineer or architect but I think it might help explain some things for you guys.

Yep, it's what I said. They're installing the soldier piles for the shoring (the guy in the video calls them "soldier beams").

I can't wait to see this building hit the Philly diagram page. Such a great addition to the skyline.

In construction you got to go down before you go up. With the W site it took them forever to reach bottom.

Just add an aluminum spire extending one meter above the top. Be sure to attach it to the structure with gorilla glue so it can be a part of the structure hence a true spire.

Sales gallery is having a "wheels up" premiere event next Wednesday from 5:30-7:30. Whatever that is.
