Medical Arts Building will be an EVEN Hotel

The new EVEN will offer 160 keys and is set to open late-2020.

Awesome, what a beauty, surprised it has survived this long.

1018 West Peachtree Street

I think someone was just asking when this site would be developed. Toll Brothers filed an SAP today.

Quote:
Redevelopment of a 1.571-acre tract with development including both market rate and student housing multifamily dwelling units, sidewalk level commercial use and shared parking structure. Addresses included are 1018 and 1032 West Peachtree Street,

Great location for more residential! Wondering if this will be multiple towers, potentially a mid rise across from the funeral home and tower along west Peachtree.

That arrangement would make sense and "shared parking structure" definitely implies that this will be two buildings.

It's amazing how West Peachtree has filled in this decade!
And I also remember that some people questioned whether there was enough demand for both University house and SQ5. This would be the sixth student tower in Midtown alone.

Yeah I’m not sure why there was such doubt- there’s tens of thousands of students in Atlanta at GSU and GT alone.

Absolutely love it. It's transformed so much already. Can't wait to see what's it's like 24 months from now when another 7 or 8 major projects are complete! And that might be 10+ major projects if some of these that have been announced but haven't broken ground yet get going.

I think the most significant project is the Whole Foods. Since it has been such a success and a significant amenity to the area, it will spur residential growth in the area, and possibly commercial growth. It might give a grocer confidence to open a much needed store downtown- that is what 20,000 people without a grocery nearby??

Agreed. It's done wonders for foot traffic in this area. Maybe it will even help Opus finally get financing. We can dream.

There are no high-rise buildings in the architect's portfolio but I generally like their work. I'm curious to see what they come up with.

Agreed - The Osprey down 10th Street at 10th and Howell Mill was Brock Hudgins/Toll Brothers Development and is shaping up quite nicely. Let's hope The Midtown Alliance ensures we get more than one street level snapshot for this development before construction begins, though...

AmericasMart to get a major overhaul

https://atlanta.curbed.com/2019/7/10/206...mericasmart-renovation-portman-peachtree

Quote:
Like the recently finished Hub redevelopment at Peachtree Center, another iconic John Portman property in downtown Atlanta is set for significant changes.

Updates are in the works for the sprawling AmericasMart campus as part of a multi-phase initiative the property’s new owners, International Market Centers, are calling Atlanta NEXT.

IMC acquired AmericasMart a year ago. Capital improvements will extended to all buildings across the 7.2-million-square-foot campus, company officials announced today.

First up: a street-level facelift at one of downtown’s busiest intersections.

Stage one will include an ASD | Sky-designed redo of the AmericasMart Building 1 lobby at the southwest corner of Peachtree Street and John Portman Boulevard.

According to IMC reps, construction is expected to begin immediately after the Summer 2019 Market season and wrap up next winter.

Unbe-freaking-lievable! I never thought I would see the day that anything was done to improve those buildings.
