N19 takes over a slightly over an hour to reach New West station from Waterfront. For comparison's sake, it takes the 19 roughly the same amount of time to get from downtown to Metrotown station during the day. No, it's not exactly fast, but that is why they are considering rolling out Nightbus Express.

That sound would be called turbo barking or as some people like to call it " back firing ". I'm actually not to sure what exactly causes it but I've noticed when the operator lets go of the accelerator pedal is when you'd hear such noise.

I gotta kinda/sorta vouch for him as I was once (this was back in 2012) booted off at New West as the system was shutting down and on top of about 45 minutes to get back to my place at Joyce there was also a wait of around 45 minutes for the bus to even arrive at New Westminster. My only experience with the N19 was slooow.

New Uber-esque bus service coming to Bowen Island

The pilot begins July 15 and continues till Sept. 15.

The two on-demand buses will operate on different schedules:

One bus will run weekdays from 4:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. with a set pick-up location at Snug Cove ferry terminal
A second weekend-only bus will run from 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. with a floating pick-up and drop-off location

The pilot is in addition to the regular bus service.

Those buses are currently being built: Scroll thru TransLink's facebook page.

As for rollout, they will be on the 620 and 301. Was told this by one of the first drivers to drive the demonstration bus.

351 faces some variances due to efficient use of resources stemming from the Transit Network Review, and there still needs to be some height issues cleared up with the 601.

We are looking at August/September for the arrival for the fist bus.

Just realized that all the "art graphic" wrapped buses are the new articulated green/blue buses (some of the other ones have regular commercial advertising)

Tip: you can actually see some of the green sticking out from under the wrap in some places.

Also tip: the tap-to-pay branding is also applied onto select buses of the 2018 order.

3rd tip, there is testing of a new radio/TMAC system which is being installed on the last few 18000s and all the 19000s.

This is funny because we joke around the bus-nerd community and call those wrap-id buses and tap-id buses.

I wonder if when the time comes for them to unwrap these buses, will it be all at once? Or gradually a few per day?

Transit police to share info on problem riders with Barwatch

Metro Vancouver Transit Police have started a new program that will see the force share information on problem transit riders with Barwatch.

The Barwatch program is operated by downtown nightclubs, and works by banning guests with violent criminal histories and sharing information between venues on problem customers.

Under the new deal, Barwatch members will also get that kind of information from transit police.

“If they’ve been in a Barwatch bar and when they go home think its a good idea to fight, get involved in a sexual assault, harass females or fight with the Metro Vancouver Transit Police, we’re going to want to know that information and take a real strong look at banning them,” said Barwatch chair and former Vancouver police officer Curtis Robinson.

According to transit police, the program will focus on transit riders who are frequent patrons of the Granville Entertainment District, and who are causing trouble for other riders.

It said the information that gets passed on may include intelligence on their lifestyle or criminal associations that pose a risk to public safety.

“The safety of transit users and staff is a priority for the Transit Police,” said Transit Police Chief Dave Jones.

“Barwatch has a proven history of success. We are happy to have an additional tool to further protect the public and staff on our transit system.”

Robinson said the new sharing agreement amounts to an extension of Barwatch’s Code of Conduct to the transit system.

That code was brought in last year after a downtown nightclub worker was fatally stabbed, and targets fighting, verbal abuse, harassment and theft, among other problem behaviours.

People caught breaking the code can face a one-year ban from Barwatch venues.

“So if you leave a Barwatch bar and decide at that time you’re going to act up, get into a fight, assault somebody, harass women … the chances are we’re going to find out and we’re going to bar you,” said Robinson.

“That level of accountability will convince people there are consequences.”

Not sure if this is new or not but the Richmond-Brighouse Exchange is scheduled to start construction at the end of the year and will take five months.

Again, I think it's stupid to drop the B-Line brand and waste resources rebranding things. 99 will keep its B-line name. 95 gets renamed again despite after switching from the 135 just 3 several years ago. smh...

They should have built the Broadway Extension fully before any rebranding is done

Then again: the 99, 44, 84, and 503 will be in this weird category where they provide frequent express service but arent really a B-Line: I'm looking at 99 and 503 in particular.

Point is: 99 CANNOT Co-exist with Rapidbus. Either take back the RapidBus rebranding or rename the 99 B-Line to the R9

Removal of existing road material and pouring of concrete at Harris Rd. bus stops
New signage, including traffic and bus stop signs
Single-lane closures will be required for a seven-day period at the new [/B]B-Line[B] bus stops at Harris Rd.”

Even the editor doesn’t like the rebranding.
