Correct on all 3 counts. And additionally, I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) it's a single track, with a single train running back and forth, with a stop at the EY Centre.

According to GeoOttawa, Uplands Station (EY Centre) will have a passing track, so two trains will be running back and forth. In fact, it's double tracked for roughly a kilometer between just past the main line and Uplands Drive.

Yup. To increase capacity, they doubled platform lengths but no change in frequency because they won't double track. $600 million and existing riders won't see any improvements in service.

Good Day.

The platforms on the mainline (Bayview to Limebank) are to be 75-80 meters long, for the new FLIRTs and a single coupled set of Lints. Two more Lints will service the Airport Spur as separate units (like now), shuttling back and forth from SouthKeys (pocket track) to the single tracked Airport station. E-Y Centre station is to be a double tracked passing station (like Carleton is now), and both Airport and E-Y stations are short 35-40 metre platforms.

The last two Lints are spares (like now). One FLIRT will be spare.

The mainline frequency indeed does not change - at best <snort> 8 minutes - I expect no better than ten, with the upgraded passing sidings. At least it should be more consistent with the flyover at Ellwood (VIA) replacing the diamond.

The Spur will be scheduled to match whatever is running on the mainline, as it has to slot between mainline trains at SouthKeys.

EnJoy!

It has been confirmed the frequency will remain 12 minutes. Double tracking the new Walkley Station (for a mere $15-20M, sigh...) is required to bring frequency down from 12 minutes to 10 minutes.

Good Day.

Yep... I recall seeing that, and the speculation that (for once) they are underplaying the hand. Optimistically, the new configuration -should- allow getting to ten, but they are only promising 12. Hope Hope Hope they can get it down when they have operationally worked out the bugs. (Silly Me !)

That 12 minute schedule burned me yet again last Thursday. Trillium Line trains arrives at Greenboro just as my local bus departs. Ended up walking much of the way home.

Why does OC Transpo continuously sacrifice frequency for other more dubious goals? That is the single biggest reason for their stagnant ridership.

With regards to construction between South Keys and Greenboro (from the other thread), they now have construction fencing set up just past the derail, which is about 30m south of the platform at Greenboro.

Good Day.

Thanks.... I always wondered if they did have one there.
And it always struck me as a bad idea if they did - given the raised embankment the line is on in that area, giving a fair tumble if it ever had to be used.
Hence my preference for letting it run out - but not likely from another angle of safety consideration.

What I don't understand is why they don't know double track Walkley since they are going to be constructing a station there anyway as part of phase 2?

If it eventually needs to be done to improve frequency, why not do it now?
This just ensures that frequency remains low, and that the line will need to close AGAIN in the future when they DO decide to do it and if it's $15M today, we all know its not going to get any cheaper in the future

But for points south of Greenboro, 12 minute train service is a big improvement over 30 minute "rapid" service on the 99.

12 minute frequency will not match up with local service beyond Phase 2 either. The revised routing will leave most riders not within walking distance of the Trillium Line. For those currently served by the Trillium Line, the lack of frequency just continues to drive people to continue to use the Transitway to go to Hurdman.

The attitude from the city is that capacity and not frequency is the main consideration although everybody knows that improved frequency is actually the driver of higher ridership.

It's perfectly possible to sync up bus service with train service, just not on a 30 minute schedule. 28 minute scheduled service would work fine, you'd never have to wait more than 12 minutes for the bus at the end assuming you arrived on the interim train. You lose the convenience of the bus coming at the same minute on the hour and the half hour, but with phone apps and posted schedules, it more than makes up for it in convenience.

It's supposed to open in 2022 with the rest of Trillium Stage 2.
