Agreed; we bought one for the prime location, to downsize, and to be able to shut the door and not worry about snow clearing or yard work when we go on holiday. We think it looks good and we are beyond ready to move in. Yes, the balcony glass is flat instead of rounded like they seem to be in the renders but I am more excited about the finished product. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The building will still be way more striking than most of the buildings in Ottawa.

Buying a condo for those reasons is great. Good for you for paying others to do your chores. Also density and the environment and all that.

My issue is like, why friggin bother with the round balcony schmucking about, and then half-ass it? Why friggin bother...

Even the poor guy who had to cast all those slightly different radius balconies thinking he was doing something great, and then for financial reasons your boss half-asses it. Would make me go crazy.

Also, are you not the least bit concerned that if they'd half ass the finishes on the outside, your unit is going to be full of cardboard veneer and duct tape? Because that's also not unusual.

Beautiful photo! Where did you take it from? Bronson? You should submit it to CTV News.

Looks like this puppy might be topped out...you can see the crown of the building and roof appear to be built when approaching it from Parkdale/Carling Avenues...

Building is indeed topped out and the concrete pump has been removed. Forms and shoring currently being lowered down. That's as big as it gets folks. I will get the so called "money shots" from the top once I get back there.

One thing can be said, the bar on "taller than 27 floors in Ottawa" has now been set. It will be interesting to see if future developers wish to raise or lower that bar.

Well we've already seen Apogee crap out on this competition. I hope it's not a sign of things to come....

It's disappointing from up-close, I'll admit, but cool to see from further away.

That cladding is horrifying. A more direct comparison:

https://twitter.com/markusoff/status/1150885717951709184

The back side is just as disturbing...

If I were living in Edmonton, I'd be livid right now.

As for Claridge Icon, I think the balcony glass not being properly curved is crazy ugly but I pretty much expect that now. Just watch that look-alike from Toronto do it properly and better.

Looks like a larger, crappier Student commons at Algonquin College.
