The typical activists already have their claws out. This is going to be a very long and drawn-out process.

However, I do hope SOM stays on/is selected as the lead design architect for the towers.

SUCH a lame fight... Do you want this concept (I could see myself on that lawn or accessing the lake there), or would you prefer keeping the site as is. Lets fight for the status quo!

Interesting to see that pedestrian bridge where it is -- makes me wonder how it will relate to the Blue Line transit bridge which, should cross in just about the same place.

Off Topic: This reminds me of something I saw recently that was both hilarious and truly sad. I can't seem to find it now, but as part of the Round Rock 2030 project, residents were asked in a survey, "How could your neighborhood be improved?"

The most popular answer was "I like my neighborhood the way it is now. It does not need to be improved."

Even if you lived in the greatest neighborhood on Earth, surely you could still think of a way to improve it?

Towers.net has some more renderings. I don't recall seeing some of these before. There are also some massing models showing some heights. The tallest one is 525 feet. One of the renderings also shows where the pedestrian bridge connection would be on the north shore.

This, for what it's worth feels like a really nice location for an arena in the future.

I know we're not really on the short-list for anything other than MLS, but if our Austin FC is successful (especially in corporate stuff) I could see MLB giving central Texas a harder look than we're getting now.

I love it! This is exactly how I envision this area of South Shore Central. It's the right type of density and the right type of interweaving between the hike and bike trails/parks with the urban fabric. If this exact plan gets built out, It would be an achievement that the city can really be proud of.

Of course we don't live in an ideal world where these sorts of projects get built out to their full potential as envisioned. (Though I will say all in all, the 2nd Street District/Green Water area came pretty close, however I do feel the overall height of the highrises could have been taller and more varied in height to each other, having said that it can't be denied that area is a roaring success with the street activity vibrance and is exactly what the city was going for.) This is where we could put ourselves as forumers to good use in getting involved with public input. We need a good counterbalance to the NAs which really should not have any say in what happens because it doesn't directly affect them. They will use traffic through their neighborhoods as the main excuse but reality is, traffic is not going to spike anymore than it has with all the other new developments DT. With their logic, nothing should be built at all because their poor neighborhood streets are going to become parking lots. It just hasn't happened and it won't.

That's some good height for south of the river. And I think 525 is a good top height down there, only because there's only so much developable land in any direction until you get to the Riverside corridor east of 35...continuity of bulk is important to me when considering really tall buildings (and honestly I'd throw 525 in the really tall building category...we're getting spoiled in Austin).

Agreed. I wish they were more adventurous with the design of their buildings, because I can't remember an Endeavor development that was truly unique. But that said, it's always nice to see them attached to a project because it genuinely means that there's a very good chance of it getting built, and done on a fairly short timeline.

Well the car isn't going anywhere. The guy with the backpack doesn't seem to be in a hurry to get out of the way. Which makes me think how nice this would be if the entire site was closed to vehicle traffic as the caption implies.
