I wonder if the crane operators have secret games. It's like an exclusive club in the sky.

Where they post notes inside there windows, so when you look real close through a lens, they're calling you a dipshit. haha or shine lasers into each others eyes.

Lots of lasers recently.

Build-a-Crane has left the building.

We're going to need a proper Construction Cam at some point...

Definitely will. Looking at this photo though, was this supposed to include a couple levels of underground parking? I totally forget.

Having those cranes there is a beautiful sight though

I believe its 2-3 levels of parking but at least 2 levels are above ground.

I think there is 3 levels underground for the hotel, accessible from the main entrance on hargrave. then there is an above ground level, accessible of St. mary for the long term stay part. Something like that anyways. Maybe it's flip flopped in terms of the levels.

I can't believe there are 5 cranes along that corridor (Main to Colony bounded by Graham and St. Mary) I can't remember the last time there were more than 2 cranes at all in Winnipeg, never mind so many so close to each other. When will the Wawanesa building get started?

I guess with all the TIE fighters making their occasional forays into the city, we're just going to have to get used to rebuilding.

The Sutton Place Hotel & Residences is bound by Carlton and Backlane shared with Edmonton. Hargrave is the block ahead of Carlton

Man that cladding sure went up fast. I'm guessing it could be done by the end of the day meaning the whole thing will have taken only a few days

Totally agree. But man some of the stuff that got torn down. It's a crime! Last comment: the trams running up and down Portage and along main, crazy to think that existed. I swear we've regressed since the 50s

Some good info on the old streetcar network here:
http://www.tundria.com/trams/CAN/Winnipeg-1941.shtml

and here:
https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/streetcar-tracks-a-peek-into-winnipegs-past-486060981.html

215 kms of streetcar at it's peak!!

All ripped up after lobbying from the car companies and oil and gas industry.
