Funny you should say that Koops. I thought of Van Halen as soon as I saw this rendering. (Even if I was confused by which tower I was thinking of!) Would be interesting for the skyline if they could use red glass instead of blue. Now, THAT, would be wishful thinking!

The lattice design is appealing although this new proposal is rather short for Bloor/Yonge.

The design is less conventional than the old one (which I didn't mind), but the height reduction is oh so predictable for this city.

Seems like they listen to people who demand direct sunlight bathing down on them, but not those that want buildings which provide shade. This is a big city. Surely people who demand direct sunlight have lots of other places in Canada they can go? Many times I've stood at King and Yonge at 3pm and there's nothing oppressive about indirect sunlight.

I suppose we should focus on the positives. Sometimes a city needs to take baby steps to get where it wants to go. We're heading in the right direction even if we're not getting there as fast as we want. The bigger concern is that the best lots are being taken. By the time we get around to building towers 300-500m we won't have good spots (major intersections on subway lines) to put them.

I doubt many Torontonians would go for spending a few billion on new subway lines just so someone could build a 500 meter tower

Toronto definitely needs more subway lines, but 30 years on we're still waiting for the Queen Line and DRL.

Very underwhelming renovation . Especially considering the flagship location.
