They leave a hole in the floor and use a long arm on the excavator.

Here the process is being used on the 37 block project.

Those construction workers definitely look like they are earning every penny and then some from that nerve numbing, backing breaking, attention to detail work. If I had a tall building to erect and long held dream, would be calling on this crew.

Thank you Harry C. for your continuing, photographic contributions.

I wonder if the construction crews will find anything from Schofield's Flower shop? Dean O'Banion's old place.

You know, measure twice, pour 120' deep foundation pier once.

If they run into anything unusual in the course of construction they are obviously to going to check it out again before proceeding with that element of the design.

Sorry about missing earlier discussion, but what's the status of the Bella Luna Cafe building in the background of the photo?

It definitely sticks out like a sore thumb.

A 90 story high rise is planned to replace it.

Permits have been issued, financing was announced last week, and demo crews are on their way

Glad to hear that.

I googled the building and in March they were referring to the building owners as "hold outs"

Bella Luna is not getting torn down. They were planned to stay there - unless this is breaking news.

They've been drilling more caisson this week (at least, I think they're caisson--they are drilling something). Here's an interesting cluster of three.
