It opened last summer. Quality has dropped for the brand from their heyday.

I see that Moderne Burger has moved into the spot where Wendys was in the shared space with Tim Hortons on West Broadway.

Tried a Japanese place called Suika, its a Japanese snack bar, on West Broadway just west of fir. It was really good. When they seated us they asked if we had a reservation and we said no and they said we need you to leave by 7 pm and it kept filling up. Seems popular. The only problem is they yell a lot and it can get very loud.

I was there last weekend. The fries were still excellent, the burger was good and the manager said he was working on getting the old-fashioned milkshakes available again but it just doesn't have that old diner feel anymore. It's really missing that.

They have 3-4 other locations with variations on their menu.

The existing Hons (New West + Coquitlam and formerly Robson) were all franchise owners independently existing using the name/brand. The owner who bought it a decade ago mostly used it to sell Potstickers and other branded Hons products for Grocery stores, but now partnered with another company that does these "newer" franchise model, the goal is smaller footprint locations and franchising. The new partners I think are also behind "concepts" like Noodle Box.

Reddit seems to have a more concise history of how Hon's died.

They aren't behind Noodlebox but

Wok Box fresh asian kitchen, Firecrust Neapolitan Pizzeria, YamChops Plant-Based Butcher & Market, Kettle & Foods Kitchen.
Noodlebox is only connected with Meat & Bread as far as I can tell.

Ceilis Richmond (7331 Westminster Hwy) closed on Saturday April 25.

Note:
Ceilis in BC lasted from 2007 to 2019.

It's also one of the quieter Starbucks, I'm there all the time. Great place to get a drink with a colleague and sit and chat

I notice a Site Office sign up at the old Boathouse on English Bay. Anyone heard what's going in?

Viaggio Hospitality Group (Boathouse owners) were working on a new concept for the space.

Viaggio was the Beach Bay Cafe. I believe US-based Landry owns the Boathouse. Maybe they'll open a McCormick & Schmicks!

From Granville twitter yesterday:

Sounds like Tap & Barrel?

New brewpub #restaurant coming to corner of Beach and Denman across from Cactus Club. Be a good fit with their busy spot in Olympic Village

Fayuca is moving from Yaletown to Main Street in Mt. Pleasant. They don't say what space they are moving into though. Oh well. It'll be a good addition to the hood. A step up from most of what's available on Main Street.
