Sun Country adds Phoenix-Las Vegas flights with one-way fares from $39

Thought your luck had run out on finding inexpensive flights to Las Vegas? Sun Country Airlines could tip the odds in your favor.

The Minneapolis-based airline announced Tuesday that it will add flights between Phoenix and Las Vegas starting in September. The nonstop service between Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and McCarran International Airport begins Sept. 5 with fares starting from $39 one way.

The flights already are available to book online on the airline's website. While Sun Country says it has fares as low as $39 one way, a quick check seemed to show most flights hovering around $48 one way. For comparison, in a quick check of legacy airlines we spotted fares for $120 round trip for the same dates

The Sun Country route targets leisure travelers: Flights will operate on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The airline also announced service between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. In a emailed statement, Chief Revenue Officer Grant Whitney said, “We’ve seen great success with service to and from McCarran International Airport and are thrilled to offer customers these new flights to Los Angeles and Phoenix.”
