Seems like you're right. Heres some screen captures from their 6 o'clock news story. It doesn't look to bad to me, but the material choice could make or break it I think.

We seem to have a space race going': Three tower projects head to public hearing.

Two of the pitches — one in Oliver and one in Queen Alexandra — going to city council’s public hearing on Thursday got the stamp of approval from the city’s planning department. But a development proposed for downtown got a thumbs down, and planners are citing parking as the reason.

~3. They needed a height increase for mechanical, so it will be 44/5 storeys if I recall.

Has there been any updates on Beljan's Williams Hall project? That is one I'm really excited to see *hopefully* come to fruition.

Is that Epcor to the left? If so, the lower rise building sits in quite a shadow zone.

Living on that north side facing EPCOR would not be ideal. Maybe they will push the elevator cores, stairwell and any service rooms etc. to that side.

Does city council listen to city planners here? They didn't in Kelowna with the Westcorp hotel proposal.

The renderings for the Stationlands residential development look better than the elevation drawings, but likely because the renderings don't show the entire treatment of the facade. The colours and punched windows were...interesting.

I agree, that area of downtown is not exactly a desirable area and rife with serious issues, but I hope they don't try to mitigate those issues by designing the building to wall off the development from the north side. That would be incredibly short sighted.

Seems like a bit of a race right now to see who can get their development going in the tailing end of a construction cycle, slumping condo sales and falling values. I think most of the institutional buyers looking for big rental projects have bought what they were looking for or have backed away from the Edmonton market. I have to think a lot if not most of these tower proposals are going through the motions in preparation for the next cycle down the road.

I wish that they showed a site plan, for it is quite impressive.

The commercial retail units seem top notch too, hope they can attract some quality tenants. Love or hate Starbucks, they would help boost pedestrian traffic in the area.

I like it. One minor comment - I wish they would have pulled the windows inside at street level 6 feet on the corner of 104/103 so a resto/cafe would have room for a few outdoor tables. That would help animate the corner.

So a notice to river users from the Rowing club. Apparently the Groat bridge rebuild has resulted in a large piece of concrete inadvertently landing in the water below the bridge. There are buoys around it. but at the current river levels the chunk is just below the surface and can be a navigable hazard.

RE: Clancey:

A century ago, Gorman, Clancey & Grindley Supply Yard stood on our 104th Street site. Local builders came by regularly, purchasing lumber, stone, and metal that would shape the growing city.
