If any one feels uncomfortable posting homicide stats because they are afraid that someone will start going all millennial and excuse the poster of some kind of non existent fetish just send me the stats and I will post them for you as I suffer from the non existant sick fetish for homicide stats.

Calgary at 8, most likely will be 9 once police get done investigating the latest suspicious death.

Edmonton at either 9 or 10, latest person was found deceased outside of the city near Vegreville but it sounds like the murder may have taken place within Edmonton city limits.

Winnipeg just clocked number 15, and in a weird situation too.

Two suburban neighbours didn't get along. The 66 year old was blocking the backlane trying to get his boat into the garage. The 24 year old took exception and decked the older man, and that punch killed him.

Winnipeg hit 16 last night. According to CBC, we didn't get to that number last year until September 24...

Hey, at least they have the decency of keeping their hits in places where people couldn't give less than a fig about.

I recently read that a lot of mobsters have moved out of the island for the burbs in recent years.

Arson/explosion/fire, two people dead, third seriously injured. Homicide investigating, could be up to 12 in Calgary. 17 for all of 2018 and we're at 12 already.

I know nothing about how this all works but is it really "murder" if you punch someone and they happen to die from it? If everyone who got punched in the face died, murder numbers would be in the 1000s, and a fight with punches thrown could be called attempted murder.

But wow that is just a shitty situation all around. Don't know the people but to think they're leading their normal suburban lives and an escalated neighbour dispute ends in death for one and jail time for the other.

I also wonder whether this was just a one-time thing or whether the younger one got fed up with the older one and simply dealt a punch too hard.

Not first degree murder, but culpable homicide - either second degree murder or manslaughter, depending on the facts, one would think.

In this situation it would almost certainly be manslaughter. No way the dude intended to kill him in the moment - just injure with a good whack to the face. I’d find it pretty difficult to prove someone intended to kill someone with a punch..

Still counts in the murder/homicide stats.
