Seeing this makes me feel like nothing short of a showstopper for that corner is acceptable. I don't think that parking would be unacceptable per se but it would have to be hidden almost perfectly. Furthermore I think it would almost have to be mostly underground or have units between itself and the street. Heck even it they have to go fairly tall to make that economically viable then bring it on.

FYI 5468796 did all the design work on the TFNP offices. I worked in there, they were awful. Everything was form over function – felt like working in a tupperware container. Not a single private meeting room, the board room is open-air to the public. The furniture uncomfortable and weird. All the cabinets chosen weren't standard size, and for the finance team had to be replaced as they couldn't fit standard folders in there. Architects wouldn't let is bring plants in for months.

Looks like another nice tech boost for the city. Could this add some urgency to start the residential space at The Forks? I would imagine the people working here might like to live close as well?

Important to note that Thinkbox was already here with a very large staff. This may grow a bit, but it's not necessarily a big boost for tech here yet. If Amazon likes what they see and decides to expand other things here, then that would be great.

Reminds me of The Cube in OMS. Looks cool, but apparently totally 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 as a stage for musicians...which is exactly what it is.

As much as I admire many of their designs from a purely aesthetic point of view, the fact of the matter is they are architects, not sculptors making pieces for art galleries. Function has to be taken in consideration. I thought they taught this balance in design school.

Whenever ive seen a show there i envision out of fear that steel curtain giving way and decapitating the performers! I do think it looks cool though.

The worst part about the cube that many don’t know is that there’s a second, smaller stage and performance venue on the roof, but it wasn’t remotely built to code (railings, accessibility, space, egress, etc) and is completely unusable.

Also, there’s a full AV room behind the main stage that was supposed to house controls for the built-in projection and lighting system, which never worked. If you remember from the original renders, it was supposed to be used for passive art/video projections when not in use, but the whole thing never worked, and we ended up with like 2 colour changing LEDs on each side...

Not quite Railside related. But as was mentioned before, the outdoor licensed area is coming. Sounds like it's not the entire forks, but the area between Market and Johnston buildings.

fantastic, i'll drink Fools coffee or maybe a fruity beer and my wife can have a wine, all while enjoying the sun and the river. i'm not concerned abut rowdiyness, that's not the crowd that would be there (i don't think) My only concern is with vagrants bothering you since it doesnt appear to be a roped off area.

^^love the new concept art. I think this will be a great addition to The Forks. Has anyone read what the space will be like in the winter? Will part of the atrium still be used for skate changing? Will beverages still be served from that bar area?

I was told over the winter that they were planning on turning the Muddy's into the new skate change area. It was built as a pavillion (it's actually called Forks Pavillion), and this probably confirms that's the direction it will be going again. I think it's a good idea, it was so crowded in the Market the last 2 years with the Common being so busy. This should help open things up a bit.

AFAIK they're going to hold out on signing any leases for the 2 lower patios this year, as they want to see how all these changes play out for the summer and winter season, then will probably look to find tenants interested in partnering to rebuild the patio areas to be more functional (aka build in kitchens most likely).

I love the art work. Really wish the area at south point park would be better maintained, such as paving the pathways, etc. Need to get that maintenance yard out of their. Looks like a dump.

Same with the paths in the forks. Get rid of the gravel and pave it with something.
