I hadn't heard about this, it sounds pretty sweet. More of a destination spa than what I'd pictured for in the city, so it should work well in parkland county whether it's near the Henday close to Devon or even if it's an hour drive away at Wabamun.

It's also pretty pricy, starting at $80 for a visit. Which it fair for an exclusive, luxury experience. Make a nice anniversary thing, and probably would do well with a boutique hotel on-site.

I think there would be room in the market for a slightly less luxe, less exclusive version in the $20 range - and would probably be better suited for in-town.

I have heard the location is near Big Lake, which would be at the lake's southwestern shore (only part of the lake within the County).

It will be great to have two Nordic spa destinations in the area within 2-3 years. Should help boost tourism in the City and region.

No, just $80 is a destination you might visit a couple times a year so the drive isn't an issue, plus at that price you want to be away from traffic noise or traffic views. Not many places in the city where that would work.

$20 bucks and there are people who would visit regularly, so it needs to be convenient, and you're a little more tolerant of city noise at that price.

The City of Edmonton has unveiled redevelopment plans for the west part of Rossdale, including a promenade along the river and repurposing the power plant.

The goal of the River Crossing project is to create "a place to be, not just a place to pass through," said Erik Backstrom, a senior planner with the city.

Final draft images of the potential future design for the area were on display at an open house Wednesday.

Anyone have a weblink to the City of Edmonton site that shows all the boards that were presented at the open house for Rossdale River Crossing Redevelopment? I can't find it and went through the planning site. You would think these would be posted online.

Sounds like McKenzie Hotel/Condos on 104 St is in danger or not going ahead due to poor condo sales. Apparently other groups are interested in the site.

A shame if it does not go through as one of the nicest proposals currently out there. I assumed locked in funds from build out of the hotel portion would have helped boost the project's timeline to start, but maybe goes to show how little I know how these things work.

I think they are asking too much for the current market we are in. But on the other end I heard Grandin City is like 70% sold already? I wonder how different their price points are.

Not surprised given the weak housing market (even worse for condos). The luxury condo market is already flush with new units - Encore, Legends and Sky to name a few within a few blocks' radius.

Personally, I would have marketed these as luxury rentals as the market is stronger for those I believe.

Agreed. I wonder if some other projects may switch gears and go with rentals over condos instead.
