They'd make a great podium (or even downtown school). The property south of Slater could be redeveloped as something nice, maybe getting rid of the parking lot and better integrated with the park.

In high school, we went to a franco-ontarien concert in that school. The auditorium was a suspended one on the upper floors, and was an important feature of the building.

all of the options discussed in that planning document seem to demolish the modernist additions though. Only the core auditorium may survive as a community amenity in some of the options. The problem is, with the Bronson Centre close by, I'm not sure what the demand for auditorium/theatre use would be.
