Back when I spent 6 months in Lyon for school on the heights of the 5e arrondissement, I could see the Alps once in a while in the distance, but I had been told the Mont Blanc could also be seen on a clear day. It took a very long time, but I eventually saw it, 160 km away. I only say it once during those six months as the conditions never allowed for it again.

I think Mount Columbia would be visible from Rocky Mountain House (about the same distance from the Front Ranges as Calgary is), because it's at the same latitude and nearly straight down a valley from them. For us, I think it's impossible to see it from the city, maybe from the top of Brookfield or the Bow, but not from the usual views from the city like the NW and NE Ctrain.
We mainly see the front ranges and the ones right behind them, because the front ranges themselves are very tall at over a kilometer above the surrounding relief.
