None.. of that looks at all like anywhere in Calgary. I wish we had that kind of density outside of the core. That is Toronto's Yorkville in the foreground and Eglinton in the background. If anything, the background part looks very similar to the Edmonton skyline, with two dominant towers above a bunch of short towers, and a spread out similar to Oliver, just without Pearl.

Now that is a beautiful use of telephoto. Very beautiful shot. Aren't those hills like 130 km away in like New Hampshire?

^ THose are the Monteregian hills, only 20-30 km away.

Oh right! I saw a Montreal skyline pic that featured ones in NH, but that makes more sense in this cause. I forgot that some of the Laurentian (or is it appalaichian?) foothills extend into southern Quebec.

I don't know their relationship to the Laurentians or the Appalachians, but the Montérégiennes are a "family" of 10 or so hills or small mountains that appear plopped down into an otherwise flat landscape in the Montreal area.

Mount Royal is the most famous of the Montérégiennes by far.

The Monteregians used to be hot spots and are their own thing, they extend from Deux-Montagnes to the North Atlantic seabed. The Appalachian foothills indeed extend into Southern Quebec, just farther east in the Eastern Townships. They are also visible from Montreal (both in Quebec and NY) just much farther (80-100 km).

In response, here are some (non-telephoto) shots of Calgary, showcasing the 1000 to 2000 meter (above surrounding relief) tall Rocky Mountains, with the front ranges beginning 50 km away. Mount Columbia, the tallest mountain in Alberta and 2nd tallest in the Canadian Rockies at 3750 meters above sea level, is about a 3 hour drive from the city up by the headwaters of the Saskatchewan River.

Both pictures look like they are from the Manulife Centre on Bloor and Yonge in Toronto, the first looking directly South and the other directly North

Back when I spent 6 months in Lyon for school on the heights of the 5e arrondissement, I could see the Alps once in a while in the distance, but I had been told the Mont Blanc could also be seen on a clear day. It took a very long time, but I eventually saw it, 160 km away. I only say it once during those six months as the conditions never allowed for it again.
