Well isn't that nice. Meowing is also a compliment but, It's certainly not accepted as one.

That's the difference with gay dudes, we're all guys so most of us enjoy cat-calling and being cat-called

Dear Chad: I'm straight. There's been times I would have whipped that whippersnapper (no really I'm straight) for comments... but he works rather diligently here (he'll hate this compliment-especially from me).

But thanks for introducing "straight bashing" into this (inappropriate) forum.

All the best. Have enjoyed your previous contributions.

Yeah somehow I didn't register how tall it was. Not really top five material.

I didn't know gay men "woof" which also means I'm not as hot as I think I am. I enjoy conversing about differences in diversity particularly in lighthearted fashions over the usual acceptance through avoidance.

These long threads go of on off topic tangents all the time.

I'm not sure I understand, I most certainly wasn't straight bashing anyone, not in the least. Anyways, thanks for the compliment at the end. All the best to you too.

Exactly man. Some people need to stop being such tight-asses all the time (pun most definitely intended )

This ones's about a year old, but I don't believe the Canada section has been graced with these renders of Kelowna's Westcorp hotel...

Soooo Great Gulf just released their proposal for the YWCA site which they acquired about two years ago. I imagine they are releasing it now due to the imminent relocation of the YWCA into their brand new, much larger facility in Ingelwood.

Fifth and Macleod - 50 storeys - ~165 meters

I just love how Montreal's on fire! So much happening there when it seemed like it was skyscraper-stagnant for so long. The last time I remember anything particularly interesting going up there was the late 80's, early 90's. I know people in Montreal may take offense at that (sorry...no offense intended) and work to disabuse me of my beliefs but it's still great to see so much going on there.

No, it's true. I was on SSP back then. I remember the Pantages tower going up in Toronto and thinking 'that would never happen here'. Expectations were LOW.

The entire country was at a low ebb in the late 90s-early 00s.

Just take a look at the SSP diagrams from 1997-2002:

London has a new tallest proposal! Old Oak properties has purchased a previously approved 38 storey development site and is planning a new, 40 storey tower which at 129 metres would be the tallest building in the city. They hope to start excavation in July. It features over 650 new residential units, which will be a big boost to London’s downtown population and vibrancy.

Yes, great to see this project back. London's really been growing a fair bit in the last few years, good to see the momentum continuing.

It’s a vacant lot right now but the previous developer recently demolished a couple of historic Victorian row houses that were on the site. It’s a shame really.

The last taller projects (VSLP, BNC, Maestria & 1SP) have all hit that limit. AFAIK, 1000 DLG will be the tallest for the foreseeable future...
When you have multiple buildings hitting the height limit, the height limit needs to be raised. Nobody that I know of cares about the mountain, it is ridiculous to continue on trying to protect a hill that isn't very prominent anymore. Montreal has outgrown the hill.

The mountain protection has became a dogma. Very hard to break. And it has some merit and valid guidelines. The heigh limit is not one of them.

Trust me, there are A LOT of Montrealers that care about the mountain, more than those who don't, in fact. Here, the "mountain" is venerated beyond reason. As ridiculous as it is, the heigh limit will stay. Unless this boom carry on and intensify in the next decades, which is unlikely.

Montrealers don't care much about skyscrapers and skyline. That doesn't help.

The vast majority of Edmontonians didn't mind the municipal airport when it was still an airport. It was up to us to bring the issue up and convince the city to remove it, it ended up being a david VS goliath battle given the wealthy people that backed the airport but we succeeded and the city has been better off because of it.

If you want to make a change for the better in Montreal it will be up to people like you to change the mindset Montrealers have about the hill. I'm not saying that the hill is a bad asset for the city, all I am saying is that the height limit is out of date and has lost its purpose. Would you rather have a 200m skyscraper wall surrounding the hill competely blocking the view of the hill from the river, or a few taller buildings poking above the hill that still leaves part of the hill visible from the river.
