Opportunity was already on the table for a long time. He pulled the trigger after the government change impacting his work. While government in the US is about the same, they won't be impacting his work within a large corporation, like the UCP will be within the universities.
As a general comment, I'm sure appreciating Daily Hive. They are quite different from other media, and cover these types of happenings quite well. You wouldn't see this type of article elsewhere, with links to so much social media and being so image rich.

Just admit you made that rumor up. Anyone with two brain cells knows why he's leaving and it has nothing to do with the change in government.

Why would anyone without direct workplace impact care one iota?
Why would anyone think only one issue would absolutely be the reason a person leaves a position for another position in another city? There could be a million reasons.

That neighbour (on the left) is really getting screwed. The new home is close to the property line and protrudes out so much more. The curb appeal will take a hit, and their view may be curtailed.
