New corporate headquarters for Heartland Payment Systems under construction

Heartland Payment Systems, currently based out of Edmond, OK was acquired a few years ago by Global Payments, an Atlanta based firm.
Heartland is having its entire operations moved to downtown OKC into the new building.

Recent construction pics:

Local developer Gary Brooks, who has led several prominent downtown OKC projects
is currently in the process (seemingly herculean) of renovating the historic First National Center building,
originally built in 1931.

Yesterday he posted an interesting tweet:

Quote:
Did some tests on building lighting at First National last night.
This is 8 lights, plans call for over 100 on the upper floors. Hundreds of color combinations. More testing next week. Pretty cool.

This old building is a gem. What he's doing for the interior is amazing.
But that exterior lighting is really going to pop in the skyline.

8 story condo proposed in midtown along Classen

That pic above is a bit of PR salesmanship.
The location would be here:

This would be one of the few for-sale properties in downtown OKC,
as most residential is rental. Just a proposal at this point.

Renderings:

It passed downtown design review in March, but so far, no dirt has started flying.
Likely it's awaiting sufficient financing thru pre-sales.
Apparently a few units have been sold, but... no idea what percentage or how close to the needed amount has been generated.

Hopefully it gets built. Would be awesome infill for that big empty grassy spot.

Another pic shows the location of the lot relative to downtown.
The small white building placed there is a container with sales info.

The Collective OKC food hall nearing completion

Rendering:

https://www.okctalk.com/showthread.php?t=41862&page=5

This is the building prior to renovation:

https://www.okctalk.com/showthread.php?t=41862

From 405 magazine:
Quote:
The Collective OKC, a food hall with a bar on each of the two levels and a rooftop patio, is located at 308 NW 10th. It occupies the Conley Building, which dates back to 1923 and was once home to a Harley Davidson dealership, but has stood abandoned for two decades. It was bought in 2016 by Northline Development.

Operating partner Jenny Nguyen, whose family own and run popular sandwich hotspot Lee’s Sandwiches at 3300 N Classen, says, “We will be offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as rotating kiosks offering anything from food to retail.”
. . .
The idea of a food hall was the brainchild of operating partner Truong Le, owner of Chick N Beer, 715 NW 23rd, and the new food concepts Okie Pokie and Noodee, both at the former Guernsey Park location at 2411 N Guernsey Ave.

Thanks, man. I steal a lot of good stuff from OKCTalk.

Oops, bumped to a new page. I think I'll repeat the very last pic from the previous page for continuity.

It seems like Oklahoma City is quietly writing itself a new urban success story with all these smart new redevelopments. It's always exciting to see another American city begin a rise to further prominence.

Your first sentence is very well put. "quietly writing itself" -- that's an excellent way to phrase the situation. Perhaps a little too quietly. That's why I decided to put some posts on this forum.

As for the "pulling one's self up by the bootstraps" aspect, it's both a blessing and a curse. I admit to getting a bit jealous when I see some other city hit the magical "it" status which is followed by out-of-town developers showing up in droves year after year with mountains of cash. Though it is fascinating to watch.

Despite that, OKC is doing fine. There's definitely a kind of excitement in the air with all the movement and plans. I'm intrigued by it.

Classen Inn Motel

Cute little mid-century mod motel being renovated.

https://www.okctalk.com/showthread.php?t=44111

This was built in 1962, but has been in decline for decades.
It is now being surrounded by new, modern (and expensive) homes.
Recently it was sold to local developer Richard Mason.

Mason plans to keep it as a motel and bring it back to former 60's style charm.
The rooms will be gutted and re-done. The inspiration for the remodel will be the Austin Motel in Austin,
which is another cute and quirky motel that has been recently reworked.

Mason's renovation will include restoring the sign to its original condition,
including re-instating the spinning glass globes on top.

Social Capital OKC

New beer garden and eatery being built alongside Scissortail Park on the west edge.
Heavy emphasis on local craft beers, along with wine and cocktails.

This is a (major) renovation of an old transmission shop.
In fact, they pretty much gutted the old building and started from scratch.

The original building:

What it will become:

Some recent construction pics:

https://www.okctalk.com/showthread.php?t=44232

The tracks along the street are for taking the streetcars back to the storage and maintenance building (which can be seen in the background of the last photo).

They are hoping to be open sometime this summer.
The park itself will open in September, so they will surely want to be ready for business by then.

Came across a zillow listing for a Left Frame Lofts condo that has renderings with higher resolution images than the ones I used on the previous post about LFL.

This listing is for a unit with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, 1460 sf
$850,000

Chump change, no doubt...
