It's not just the balconies that look cheap -- what about the exterior cladding generally?

Another thing to worry about is once folks move in and start putting all sort of stuff on those exposed balconies and drapes on those floor-to-ceiling windows, the whole thing will look more New Delhi than Manhattan. A hodge-podge of junk courtesy of the junk builder Claridge.

Great shot! The project has lost some quality over the renderings however, it's still truing out quite nicely. I hope this is a new benchmark for Claridge.

According to Claridge, Icon officially became the NCR's tallest on March 20.

I happen to have some digital surface model data of the Ottawa area from a geomatics course I took in the fall lying around...

The elevation of the top of Dunton tower is approximately 150m.

The elevation of the Claridge Icon site prior to construction was around 62m.
With the building itself being 143m tall, that would mean that the elevation at the top should be 205m making it definitively higher than Dunton.

I completely agree. This is not going to be the gem we had all hoped it would be.

It doesn't look so bad when approaching it through the experimental farm and arboretum on Prince of Wales...

You can see ICON from the Honey Gables area of River Road...I can only imagine what it will be like when finished, and eventually buildings 10 and 20 floors taller than it going up at City Center/ Bayview...

And Parkdale! If Brigil starts the 55 story tower right after the 32 it might beat Trinity Station if Trinity Station doesn't build the 65 story tower first.
