I believe ZMP is in buckhead.

Looks like a good plan. Still wished it had the MPT- but the general layout of the project looks good and would have a massive impact on the area.

Stoked to see this get underway. What an impact this will have on downtown.

Downtown sorely needs more nightlife and dining options. As I mentioned in the Amazon HQ2 thread when the whole Amazon HQ2 drama was churning, when it comes to attracting high paying tech jobs, Atlanta's lack of nightlife and dining options downtown, particularly close to the GWCC, is a comparative liability. There's plenty in terms of family attractions downtown, but compared to cities like Nashville and Austin, downtown needs an infusion of nightlife and dining options to impress convention-goers who might be involved in decisions about corporate expansions/relocations.

To be sure, Atlanta outpaces Nashville and Austin in nearly every objective measure that tech companies are looking for (tech talent pool, universities, diversity, sophistication, global connectivity, etc), but the intangible of a boring nightlife scene downtown needs to be addressed. I'm hopeful that the Gulch and South Downtown redevelopment will make downtown a completely different place in the next 2 - 3 years

This is larger than Atlantic station. Do you feel that project is going too slow too?

What did y’all expect? If they had said it would be done in much less time, I wouldn’t have believed them. Downtown is just picking up steam, and there is plenty of other space for projects. There really is no reason to believe that this project would happen quicker from any different developer.

I'm hoping for semi retirement and downsizing in few years which will likely entail leaving Atlanta, after a lifetime of living here. It will be fun to return before I'm 6 ft under to maybe see some of this developed.

The article says "five to 15" years for "FULL" development of the site. It didn't say 15 years for ANY development. For a project of this scale, 15 years is perfectly reasonable but its possible for it to be completed sooner as the market dictates.

The name is growing on me. After all, its probably more appropriate than any of the other "yards". Or maybe I am just accepting the fact that every other development will be called "yards" from now on. Terminus came to mind as well.

Since large scale retail developments were created in the 1950's, there have been trendy names:

1950's: plaza
1960's: square
1970's: center
1980's: place
1990's: Marketplace/point
2000's: mills
2010's: Market
Now: Yards

Actually, I had completely forgotten that there is a Terminus development in Buckhead. But I still don't think that should preempt the use of the moniker in the actual Terminus but I understand them wanting to avoid any possible confusion.

China has 65 million vacant housing units in the country right now. I don't want a property bubble in Atlanta- that means a property price crash, foreclosures, etc. It is better to build at the speed that demand dictates. The article quoted 5-15 years. Trust me, they would build it faster if there was immediate demand for all that property.

There is plenty of demand for housing, just not $1 mil+ units. If they built a ton of condos and priced them in the 200-600 range they would sell out immediately. That is exactly what DT needs anyways rather than office workers just inhabiting DT 9-5. 15 years for this development is simply unreasonable in all respects. I can't think of a project on Earth that would justify that timeline.

Does anyone know how long their LA and Miami projects took?

Hudson Yards broke ground in 2012 and isn't scheduled for full build out til 2024...so not sure what you are expecting. Seems to right in line.

Im pretty sure Atlantic station opened in 2005, and it is far from done. With the Trump stock market crash on the horizon, I would say 15 years is optimistic
