It's a notice of outstanding variances. The project won't be fully approved until those items are dealt with.

If the 30 storey residence was a reporting error and the final proposal is the one from January 21st I'd rather see the site stay vacant for another half decade than see Vranich return to form with an ugly little hotel and horrendous street frontage.

By the looks of the site, it appears that they are gearing up for construction soon...

I hope they keep the wrought-iron fence that borders the property - It's beautiful

Question: LRT will stop at King and Queen. Currently 2/4 corners at the intersection are built up and the other 2/4 are future construction sites. Are LRT planning details public such that we know where the planned stop will be located? It just seems like this property would make the most sense for its location but that City is letting this development go on as planned with no space for any LRT stop... Or is this set further back from king street than it appears?

Sorry I misread this haha - thought you meant they were planning to demolish the scottish rite building to build it up. Was gonna say, that building, god willing, will never be demolished - it's beautiful.

The environmental project report addendum from 2017 indicates that the stop at Queen Street (PDF page 15) will be in the middle of the road. However this may change once the project company is selected, I don't know why it would though.

Really wish we could confirm what exactly is going up here. It could be either one of my favorite projects or a huge ugly waste of prime street front.

Is this the location of the potential hotel?

At the King Queen corner is where the Hampton Inn / Suites was depicted to go. At 10 storeys, taller of the two towers on the site. Other illustrations show a much more height, but the planning docs show only something like 6 storeys. Bit of a lost opportunity if you ask me, but also a bit of a leap of faith (mind you Vrancor or the Vranich son built I think at least 10 storeys on Cannon), so don't know why they wouldn't amend planning docs to go higher.

Went by this afternoon. They've installed new hoarding, very tall, hard to see through except at the back. Otherwise you have to look under it.

So it looks like this is only going to be 10 and 6 storeys. What a waste of land. Should probably be at minimum 20 storeys at the corner of King and Queen.

You can read the Committee of Adjustment documents here, go to page 189: https://d3fpllf1m7bbt3.cloudfront.ne...06-13-2019.pdf

Once I see cement being poured I'll consider this under construction. Extracting or moving soil doesn't count and since this property is almost an entire block, there's A LOT of soil to work with.

At an LRT stop. That is an injustice.
And also plain surprising from Vranich who is proposing 38 stories just a block away... what would possibly motivate such an unambitious plan for such a site as this?

Totally agreed, ought to be denser, right at an LRT stop and in the Downtown.

Pictures from this afternoon. Taken from a different angle than usual, I went around the back:
