Yeah, I wouldn't be buying a west or northwest facing unit unless at the very top as there won't be any views there. All the information is out there so I don't feel sorry one bit if someone just doesn't seek it before buying.

What the render doesn't show is anything next to that - but since it was drawn, 1059 Nelson has been submitted, (where the render shows trees) and Bosa's proposed twin towers on Barclay Street are also missing.

Not so. The architects commented to the Urban Design Panel, who had questions about the design "The rental building was not intended as an afterthought, but rather a back drop."
Bing Tom did a great job of positioning views in the corridor of those buildings to the north and west. But yes you are right those views will chnage considerably, especially with the bosa buildings as almost no view corridor will exist between the two buildings.
That’s why I bought to the south overlooking the two churches. guaranteed views for ever. Something you can’t say often about condo living.
Also, don’t see anyone talking about the diamond glass which I think will be one of the coolest features of the building. I have attached an image.
And who ever posted those photos thanks because it ended the under construction debate that I’m not even going to comment on because we should be chatting/ celebrating one of the most unique buildings in the WORLD. Make my words, awards will come once complete. Hearing rumblings about some really cool extras being incorporated into the building, West Bank and Ian want this to be a signature project in honour of his friend Bing.

I just realized that "backdrop" could be read negatively - as in "ordinary" - so as to make the towers more striking.

Yes - ambiguous, isn't it? I have a vague memory that the design was more complex in early versions, and they dialed it back. As it'll presumably be an air-right parcel, or a subdivision, the owners (the church?) probably prefer something straightforward to maintain as well.

how will all those high up trees be maintained? water, trimming, weeding, etc. also, what happens with the open hallways when there's a wind storm and rain falling sideways.
They did extensive modelling regarding the wind. I believe one side is like 75 percent enclosed with glass (not the tree side) to prevent gusting. Also the way the “wings” of the butterfly kind of enclose the hallway/tree. however, I’m not a wind or tree expert but some smart people who obviously worked on that part of it are. I don’t think it will be a problem. Considering there is a huge tree on top of Eugenia place in English bay that is totally exposed 60m high I think they can figure this out with little shrub trees...

true, they did figure that out. dragging tree bits through the guys apartment and in the elevator. i guess into the elevator with tree parts it is. i hope these have a water system as well, because we all know what happened with Eugenia Place recently...

That tree is like 20 feet tall, these are like 4 feet with enclosures for the base. No one but you is thinking this is a problem. Other buildings around the world have way more extensive landscaping and trees in taller buildings.
