It's massive!

How many more floors before they start on the crown?

They are at the top floor below the crown.

I suspect 270 Park will rise in similar fashion... quick... and meeting if not exceeding the projected build time-table.

Yep, the lowest of the setbacks. This will be the most defining feature of this tower, and the one people will notice on the skyline. Looking forward to watching it take shape.

Agreed. I mentioned a while ago the horizontal lines give off a huge (international style architecture?). Not sure what style of architecture specifically, but it's certainly less related to the Empire State Building than most of the comments here seem to imply. The only feature close to the ESB is the crown, and even the crown is much closer in similarity to the Bank of America Building.

Some may not like it, but I find the treatment, particularly with the tera cotta one of the best features of the building. I only with that the tower was higher overall because of the coming towers that will top it, with flat roofs.

Well, you couldn't be more wrong about that, and it's not just an opinion. The massing is basically a modern version of the ESB massing, far more so than the BofA. The BofA has a split crown, but the vertical shaft of the crown of Vanderbilt is clearly copied from the ESB.
