Yes I heard this too - restaurant on the bottom, extended city office space on the other floors.

City is taking over the upper floors, moving staff from the standard life building at 120 king. Heard rumors of an italian restaurant on the first floor(same owners as the french and diplomat) but that was a while ago.

Yeah, I actually remember those talks now that you bring up an Italian restaurant.

That would be great - we need an italian restaurant on king william st. Now if only they'd focus more on the area by the fire station farther down.. that area of the street gets weird looking the farther down you go..

Capri is an Italian restaurant just off King William on John. It's not bad, recently renovated, been there for years. Hopefully with the Kiwi condos we start to see king william east of John take the same shape of King William West of John.

I would love to see this happen. Shame about the Black Forest declining in quality... it's super close to that site.

Ehh it's not REALLY on king william but I get what you're saying - it faces john - and it is an awesome italian restaurant - I go there sometimes to treat myself.

And yes this street is in desperate need of some tlc - even the treble hall is starting to rot again unfortunately.. those pillars are broken and have parts missing..

And yeah we went into the black forest in a couple years ago - we didn't even get served - we waited half an hour and we walked out.

I hear the Black Forest is even worse under the new ownership? Someone even mentioned that in this thread. That sucks, it was always really reliable and authentic.

Looking good! I am hating the 2nd floor and up of the 2 buildings beside it though - they look so tired - it's a shame because they worked to restore the first floors but kinda have left whats above it on both buildings to deteriorate - I'd love to see them get some 5 star treatment - rebuild the cornices repaint the window areas strip the white off the brick etc..

Maybe they can eventually use the roof space too - rooftop patios has become a trend along king william - great alternative to lack of sidewalk patio space as well for other places.
