I dont even want to know the egregious maintenance fees for a unit in big mid-market buildings like 1BE or Harbour Plaza.

1BE isn't that bad. 85 cents per sqft. On a 600 sqft 1 bed it's $520ish/month. Those 5000 sqft penthouse units will certainly have non-trivial fees.

One St. Thomas is the killer in that area. A smaller unit is 1200 sqft with $1200/month in maintenance fees and about $1500/month in property taxes. The much lower density (fewer people) should significantly decrease wear & tear over a denser building like 1 BE. Even after a few tours of the building I don't really know where the extra goes.

There's no shortage of proposals in Edmonton these days, how many will get built is another story. If you guys get a 280m tower, then that will be the inspiration for Oxford to go to 300m whenever our vacancy rate gets sorted out lol.

Just like it took y'all 50 years to even come remotely close to catching up to us? one tall, low quality tower doesn't make a skyline, sweetheart. Of the 10 tallest in the province, 8 are in Calgary, and of the 50 tallest in the province, 39 of them are in Calgary. While of the 31 towers UC and topped out in Alberta, 20 of them are here, 10 in Edmonton, and 1 in Fort McMurray. Good lucky with that Aldritt Tower fantasy.

Calgary is certainly iconically world class then.

The ignore functions works wonderfully in blocking trolls, paid shills and narcissistic serial liars, or in some cases a coalescence of all three

I mean, yeah we definitely have a world class skyline. Especially by comparison.

Haha yeah I used to use the ignore function wayyy too much back when people would attack me left and right for posting about Calgary. Now I just provide facts and they usually shut their mouths

I love Calgary's skyline. Impressive to say the least.

Edmonton's skyline is becoming a beast for its size.

Oh yeah...and we have a very nice tower in Stantec that is the tallest outside of the GTA.

Sales center coming on stream for Alldritt. That's one step closer to this so called fantasy island.

I hope this tower goes ahead, would make the skyline look a bit odd though. Not super confident it will happen though...

Calm down...just cause Edmonton got a 250m tower doesn’t make it a beast! It still has a long way to go ! So does Calgary..and that is the truth ...Calgary’s skyline looks small and is small ...so is Edmonton ....some of you need a little
Wake up call.

It doesn’t matter ! Montreal has tons of 8-9-10-11 stories Buildings ...just cause you have 5 over 200m doesn’t make it a beast. ! ...that’s the problem ! You guys have no idea how large downtown Montreal is....Montreal has double the high rises than Calgary and triple Edmonton ...and again, let’s not forget all those 8-9-10-11 Storey buildings.... and why do you go by population ? It has nothing to do with it! mind you. Island of Montreal is 2.1 million. ! What’s Calgary ? 1.4? Lol you’re counting greater Montreal ...Calgary or Edmonton will never have what Montreal has or Toronto or Vancouver . That’s a fact. And I’m
Not being a troll I’m being realistic ... yes Calgary is pretty ....and? It doesn’t have the urban fabric that Montreal has or Toronto and even Vancouver.... you just can’t face it.

Stop now, before a giant fight breaks out. This is a place for pictures and on topic discussions. Don't ruin the thread - these kinds of comparisons are idiotic. Such very different kinds of city and at such very different scales.
