Decent towers, Spectacular location, I'll mourn the loss of the White Spot though.. been going there since I was a kid

Towers look alright but that podium!

Cidex seems like the next Pointe of View. The tower they're building right now in Edmonton is atrocious.

The podium is atrocious. Towers are bland filler quality however, these heights are anything but filler.

No rendering yet but the new NS art gallery on the Halifax waterfront has provincial and federal funding now: https://novascotia.ca/news/release/?id=20190418005

It's a $130M project and there will be a design competition.

The gallery was also given a large (~$5M) collection of Annie Liebovitz photos back in 2013 that still aren't on display. Maybe they will be in the new space. This collection is full of famous 20th century photos and should be pretty popular.

You can dismiss me too. I'm still going to say where are you finding the similarities between The Hat and Maclaren? The Hat East Village for sure. The Maclaren isn't that great so far either. Full height glass panes is a plus. Metallic coloured spandrel is not. Have to wait and see on the brick.

Yeah, the Hat EV is easily the worst building built in Calgary since Vantage Pointe ten years ago. *barf*

The Maclearen podium is good if not a little overbearing. The tower cladding, just like their previous project the Matrix is bland and unattractive.

The only saving grace for the Hat in Edmonton project is the windows. We've yet to see what comes of the podium, it is tall though, whatever goes in there will have high ceilings. The 40' tall block long blank concrete wall on the east side is especially unfortunate.

Cool rendering, but I bet it just ends up being a green glass spandrel mess.

They've reflected out most of the details in the rendering which is usually not a great sign.

It'll be great to get rid of that barren-looking parking lot. I wonder if the current building will be absorbed by nscad...

First time I've seen that rendering on the left. I'm actually a little excited by this project that would fill a current parking lot. I say lets build it !

Yeah I agree that it could end up quite unfortunate. Thankfully that's just one of four towers that will make up the East Village Courtyard project, the other three being residential iirc.

Yeah man, first phase (the taller of the three) is expected to start next year. Thankfully the city has recommended the developer make significant changes to the podium, so we will see in a few months what we'll likely end up getting.

Tower One will have 465 one and two bedroom units, 22 affordable housing units dispersed across the tower's 55 storeys in order to encourage community integration, destigmatization, and upward movement once they are able to bring themselves out of low income status, and a significant retail component.

Here's another one not seen here before. The towers are nice, but the podium is just a dogs breakfast. Glad the city is forcing them to make revisions.

Some new renderings are out for Avia Condos, the newest phase of PSV in Mississauga.

These are twins, around 40+ floors in height it seems;

They're located on the bottom right, or the very north east end of the site;

Another enormous and uninspired rental residential project for Calgary. This is the residential reconfiguration of a stalled office construction project right along the tracks between downtown and the Beltline.

Place Ten - 47 storeys - ~150 meters / 27 storeys - ~90 meters

^ Although little more than renter-warehouses, it is nice to see the gap between the CBD and the Beltline continue to fill in. That gap (both physical and psychological) remains the biggest urban development issue in Calgary (in my view).

Those 2 Vancouver towers will be a great addition to the skyline but a lousy addition to the urban fabric of the city.

Due to the huge cost of the land and tearing down the iconic tower, the price of the condos BEFORE the actual construction costs are $700/sq foot. This means that a small one bedroom will start at well over a million dollars. Vancouver needs affordable housing for the masses and not money laundering towers for Chinese criminals. If the city was truly concerned about the city's housing and affordability crisis, which they aren't, they would refuse the rezoning.

Those must be stand ins until a real design is produced.
