My first instinct is "nevermind, they do suck," but the Greens were also strongly opposed to the Broadway SkyTrain... then a few weeks ago they looked at the data in a Council meeting/s and pulled a near-complete 180.

Well, she was A mistake, not sure about THE mistake. I think that people equating the municipal Green party as some kind of progressive environmentalists is a huge mistake being made by uniformed voters in Vancouver. Carr in particular is NIMBY to the core.

Boyle/OneCity seem very realistic in their approach.

Not sure if this has been posted already but the EasyPark parkade located behind-ish Olympic Village station at Moberly and Commodore has been closed due to "structural concerns" and is barricaded off. Must be very serious to warrant it though as it is an older style 1960s/1970s stack parkade that probably won't hold up in a quake.

Tried to take a pic of the sign but was waved off by a suspicious security guard prowling the perimeter.

This is the lot:

City-owned, IIRC. 'nuff said.

April 2019 Public Hearing – 150 Signatures Fight to Keep Kitsilano Safe from the Ravages of Zero Displacement Rental Housing

April 2nd & 4th, 2019 Public Hearing
While Hannah and I would normally write a separate post for each public hearing, the next two are so small there simply isn’t a point. Between the meetings on the second and fourth, the former is the more interesting of two.

The later meeting’s agenda consists of four RM-8AN rezoning applications that seek to allow rowhouses or stacked townhomes along sections of the neighbouring streets of the Cambie Corridor. Considering 6 storey buildings in these areas rarely draw much interest, we doubt these items will generate any attention. The same is likely true for the text amendments at the April 2nd meeting.

That can’t be said for either of the rental projects that will be heard. While the proposal on Kingsway never really received that much concern, the one in Kitsilano could result in a very passionate night at City Hall.

Backlash Expectations:
2715 W 12th Avenue – Very High
Concerns over the loss of street parking and building heights have generated a 150 signature petition

1303 Kingsway & 3728 Clark Drive – Moderate
This one faces the usual complaints regarding height, parking and neighbourhood fit

From Changing City Updates.

2015 Main Street

The mural makes it look like an elementary school.

2005 Quebec Street

Not as slick as its predecessors (but more industrial use inside, I think)

Looking at BC Assessment they purchased the property at the end of 2017 for $2.35 mil and the lot is 24.75 x 122 Ft=3019.5sqft for a FSR of 2.983 so $259.40/sqft land cost which is pretty awesome.

We had previously compared it to a prison, but with colourful doors.

the roof part was all lit up purple the other night. Is it always lit up? I haven't really been passed it that much at night.

Yes, it's a cool addition to the Mount Pleasant skyline. I'd post a picture from my bedroom window if I had amazing photography skills like a couple of posters I'm thinking of.

Vancouvermarket has blogged details of three of the Moderate Income Rental Housing Pilot Project buildings. Two are on East Hastings, for PCI, and one on Stainsbury Avenue just West of Victoria Drive. There are 94 and 118 units in 14 storey buildings on East Hastings, and 80 in a 5-storey building (rezoning from RS-1 single family).

Wow those East Hastings buildings are surprisingly big. I bet they've got a bit of a fight on their hands with that neighbourhood. Good luck to them!
