There was a crew on site today removing the LED light strips from the Pender frontage. Couldn't tell if they are being replaced or simply removed.

Replaced, they had failed and I believe this is a warranty job.

It seems like led lights fail a lot. Thinking of Davie street. Yaletown and cambie street. None of them work.

After the new mayor came online, the Davie Street lights came back on. Overall Kennedy Stewart is doing a way better job: downtown is a lot cleaner than before too; actually a stark difference!

But yeah, pity the LED lights on Vancouver buildings don't work too well. Seems to be working very well anywhere else in the world though.

I certainly was no Gregor fan, but you still have to be kidding me if you think anything has gotten better with the new mayor and council. At best it's same as it was.

Public art work lights up for health care workers every night

Pixels in public art are twinkling for health care workers in Coal Harbour.

On the 10-storey east tower of West Pender Place, the public art light work has been reprogrammed to change into a special pattern every evening at 7 p.m. for three minutes when British Columbians make noise on their balconies, from their windows, and outside in their yards to support front-line workers....

Frank’s public light artwork on the south-side of West Pender Place at 1499 West Pender is in the process of being restored. After the work was originally installed in 2011, the horizontal LED light strips started to leak and short out, ruining the installation.

Last year, the LEDs in the east tower were replaced with better quality light strips; the ones on the 130-metre, 36-storey west tower are scheduled to be replaced this year.

I was wondering about that installation.

Sounds like Reliance Properties is paying for the replacement.
