Interesting bit of structure, how those 2 concrete pillars on the Fort Side will be connected to the core by concrete beams. You can see the rebar sticking out of the core and how it lines up with the tops of the pillars.

I noticed that. Seems like that will be the only location to use concrete. Maybe for the main lobby with a high ceiling? The rest will be steel.

It's been brought up before, those beams are part of the platform that holds up the crane. They have been there since before the crane was put up.

There is quite the canyon forming on Graham, may become Winnipeg's finest if a couple of parking lots get filled.

Ha. It went from 10 storeys in the initial concept, to three storeys in the final proposal, to a single storey gym 40+ years later.

Oh well, at least it's something.

I know there has been. All I'm saying is what Esquire pointed out. We waited 40 years..............for a gym. Better than an ugly brown wall I suppose.

It's hard to understand where all the tenants are supposed to come from, e.g. in the base of the as yet unbuilt TNS buildings and the commercial units in the TNS apartment tower. The TNS office building itself still seems to have lots of unleased space. It just isn't realistic to expect multiple floors of new commercial space in every new development.

But after 40 years of waiting, a 142m luxury apartment building is under construction, and the best thing for Winnipeg hasn’t come yet at all.

I think the original 3-storey atrium hotel plan wasn't aiming too high into realm of the unattainable (especially considering several hotels were planned and built during Winnipeg Square's existence), but for whatever reason it just never came together.

For clarity, I'm extremely happy this thing is going ahead.

I guess my point was, out of all the stuff that could've happened over the last 40 years, it was a single story gym that came to be.

Plus the 40 storey tower with Earl's.
