All Q400 flights were loading and deplaning outside.... regardless of whether it was WestJet or AC, and until recently most (if not all scheduled flights out of Freddy were q400).

The new Rouge planes will most likely deplane to a jetway but we will still be loading up in Freddy outside (until these renovations are done and we get these new passenger corridors).

Going outside is lame, and an issue I hope will be resolved sooner rather than latter but if I need to get to Toronto early, going outside would no deter me from taking that flight.

The issue is not so much going outside, it's that terrible part of the terminal in Toronto where you have to go to catch these flights.

Toronto and Montreal have the same issues. They stick the turboprop terminals in the 🞵🞵🞵-end of the airport, to the point it feels like you're walking half way to Freddy just to get on the plane. Switching to jets will help there I guess, but if they ever put a prop back on the route for any reason, you can expect the long walks in Toronto.

The long awaited FIA (YFC) terminal expansion will begin in May. This is long overdue and should set the stage for even more growth

Good catch! This has been rumoured for quite some time. Are there any site plans available? Curious to know where it will be placed.

This is from the SNC Lavalin document for the 2018-38 visioning plan for YQM

They are planning on building the new ATC tower on the south side of the airport near the current tower.

Further change to the AC Rouge Moncton operation as the flights will be on the A320 (New to the Rouge fleet with 12 Premium / 150 Economy seats) starting June 20th, replacing the A319 (12 Premium / 124 Economy seats) which will operate from May 1st - June 19th.

For Charlottetown, believe it means they will switch to one daily A320 & one daily A321 on June 20th... so a bit of a capacity bump

You beat me to it. This effectively adds 18 seats daily over last summer between YQM and YYZ. I wonder if the frequency being cut in half will have any effect on pax numbers?

Also, I noticed the early morning departure to YHZ is gone this summer. I dont know anyone that ever used it.

If connections in YYZ become more inconvenient, then this could decrease PAX, no question.

There may be 3x A320 daily on the YQM/YYZ route, but I still believe there will also be 1x daily AC Q400 on the route as well, giving AC 4x daily service to Toronto. We will however still be losing one early morning AC connection to YYZ which will be a concern to me, since I usually have to catch an early morning flight to Toronto to make US connections whenever I go to a conference.

Couldn't Westjet or Porter take up the slack if they see an opportunity? Or I guess the real question is will they take up the slack.

Westjet did add a morning flight in Fredericton in response to the reduced morning volume. Would not surprise me to see them do the same in Moncton.

There is no Q400 flight. That was reported to be the case the day after the new schedule came out. It just took a few days for all the changes to be loaded in the system. I checked the schedule for multiple dates this summer and 3X Rouge A320s is what is on offer.

The early morning flight leaves at 6 and arrives at 710. Should be no problem making connections to the US. Although both AM flights were usually packed the late night arrivals into Moncton were quite empty. I was joined by just 7 other pax one trip home last fall. It makes sense to combine the two flights into one.

The only probable reason for going to Halifax that early is to connect to US or NF flights. Cant think of any other reason.

There indeed is still a Q400 flight, I just looked at about a dozen days on the flight schedule in the AC app, the last daily flight to YYZ at 20:30 is a Q400 (AC8943) So the 3 rouge, and 1 express flight daily seem to be correct.

What dates? Ive looked at every Monday and Friday from June to September and there are only three nonstop flights to YYZ.

Check the website and update your AC app.

Even on the Air Canada website in the "Schedule" section its there, including their PDF schedule

(It may not show up as being available to be booked, because they may be full?)

I believe it's a new flight number, so possibly just hasn't been loaded for booking yet - though a bit odd to not have it open for booking yet.
