I heard they have been taking forever due to supply issues from China, but who knows. Also learned that the colour scheme is due to the owner of the hotel being Czech and he wanted to reflect the colours of the Czech flag.

wouldn't "the best urban corner" be able to illustrate that on all four corners of the intersection, not just two of them?

and wouldn't it invite pedestrian traffic in four directions, not just one?

or are things really so bad overall that our best example is only half complete (which might well be the truth

)?

I was at an Oilers season ticket holder even today at Stantec Tower

A few interesting things mentioned about Ice District.

-2/3 of the Plaza will be ready to open in September
-The final 1/3 (Where tower B is) should be open March 2020. I assume that Tower B is now on hold becuase that's all they said was being built there.
Personally speaking I'm fine with that, the design was mediocre and it would have prevented the best views of Stantec and JW from west of 104
-JW Marriot will open in June or early July.

I know they can't do much about the dirty windows until construction is complete but it really does detract from the views. It's been my biggest complaint the last 5 months working here.

There's another broken window on 15. I came in late at night a few weeks ago and I could hear a pop coming from the windows as I walked pass them.

Figure they will start cleaning the windows now. But even when I was there it was distracting. As for the window breaking. During TI we had quite a few pop. and not from the contractors. We could never figure out what was causing it.

sometimes it’s poor detailing, sometimes it’s building movement, sometimes it’s temperature differential, sometimes it’s installation, sometimes the unit itself is faulty and/or some combination thereof. that’s why it’s so important to have sufficient attic stock from the very beginning.

Funny, we haven’t had a single vision unit pop in our building. It’s acutally not common. I’m going to say that there is probably some sort of installation deficiency with that system if it’s been that common.

oh great... now 100a street and 102 avenue sidewalks can be closed or under hoarding for another decade.

There is 8-10 more years worth of work on the building, with a break coming though. The crane will be removed in October then the next phase starts next year

From what I understand the cladding won't look great, something like the Hendrix, but a lot better than what's there now. And yes they are replacing the glazing as well.

Is this just window replacement for the Toll building? Or more?

The worst part is that open space and alcoves along the street... invites all sorts of vagrants. Could easily be expanded outwards and leased to more commercial tenants.
