^ Yes, Rapidos used conventional equipment.
The UAL Turbotrain era was the last time Canada was anywhere even close to being a leader in HSR (even though we were obviously still well behind the likes of Japan). Unfortunately it didn't last long.
For what it's worth, LRCs did for a while match the Turbotrain's 4 hour pace between Montreal and Toronto, but not anymore.
