Just back of the napkin here, but I would like to see the GCT entry incorporated better than just plopping it down on the sidewalk. Imagine if the entry was that outside triangular corner, that would look killer.

That's to be finalized as well. It's one of the already existing entrances, but it's to be reconfigured as part of the open space. It could have been configured better in an enclosed plaza, but no one seemed to want that, so you get what you get. BTW, all of the blocks from 48th all the way down to 42nd will incorporate these entrances.

No, I listened to the presentation, and that's what was discussed. I think the hearing itself will be posted on youtube soon. But the discussion on this today was primarily on the text amendments that would allow all of this to take shape.

interesting. There was a leak of a description of the design months ago and this glimpse is very much in line with what was described: a 'box' with exterior set columns. That last bit is at least true.

If its similar or quasi in nature to 425 Park, it would be a shame if it has a flat roof, and not some sort of ornament or tapering crown.

Yes, if you look closely you can see the columns fan out, sort of like a tail...

The entrance to the terminal on 48th Street was supposed to be located at the building just north, but since that building is scheduled for a redevelopment, the MTA moved it midblock, where it's currently being built.

Not sure what the plan is, only read about it in some of the Eastside Access documents. 270 Park (aka 401 Madison) is just one of a number of towers that will sit directly above the new LIRR concourse, but some of the info is below...

That document suggests that 415 Madison might get a reskin, but sadly, I don’t think that it’s coming down.

My first two reactions:

-the copper/bronze (instead of silver/gray) metal elements are a VERY exciting departure from the norm

- ALSO OMG, the recessed bracing and extruded glass fields facing Madison in that image are VERY reminiscent of the facade of Oceanwide Center in San Francisco, another recent Foster design that is FIIIINE as HEEELLL

^ 50 Hudson has those extruded glass fields as well. I hope they stay with the copper/gold color. That would make this another golden colossus, similar to 45 Broad, but on a more massive scale.

Then you didn't read it. It says a few times that the building was going to be redeveloped with a larger tower:

the building owner.... is anticipating redeveloping the building at 415 Madison Avenue with the potential for a substantially larger building

The owner of 415 Madison Avenue has indicated an intent to take advantage of the rezoning to construct a substantially larger building on the property.

We don't know how much of that is moving forward, and it could be anything from a new building to a reconstruction like 390 Madison. Whatever the case "substantially larger" would be more than a reskin.

Agreed. Warm metal is where the trend is going. Just look at the revival of brass in interior design.
