Is there another thread I'm missing about this potential mega-dev?

Reminds me of Hudson Yards (just at a smaller scale of course).

The rail capping for this project appears less difficult than what Related had to do for Hudson Yards. Although Landmark said that the station alone would take 3 years to finish.

I don't even think that's smaller than Hudson Yards. HY is around or under 30 acres - this thing is 34 acres. Number of buildings looks around the same honestly.

Good lord are the NIMBYs out in full force tonight. I’m sitting here at the meeting and there’s people calling this an ‘abonimation,’ and other sorts of things. I honestly can’t remember this much negative response to some other meetings I’ve been to but great popcorn-worthy drama nonetheless.

The project looks great, but from what I'm reading about the developer, I wouldn't count on this happening anytime soon.

If Lucas' museum was shot down, fully funded by the Lucas group, Im pretty sure this doesnt stand a chance.

Although I think this project is a pipe dream, this project and the Lucas Museum is not apples to apples.

I'm going to stay optimistic about the infrastructure and transit improvements and capping Metra. All of that will create the necessary demand for towers in the future. Let's get this project rolling and let the skyscrapers follow.

Where does the money for the infrastructure come from?

Do they really like those rail yards? It's beyond hideous over there.

I don't have a lot of faith in proposals from out of town developers, especially if they're from smaller markets and they propose a project that could make an entire CBD in smaller cities.

And a spur off the Orange Line doesn't sound like a good solution, and busses, while better than nothing, also seem ill-suited for something of that scale.

What handsome warehouse? This?

It's a bricked up, blank walled box. It doesn't hold the corner with any architectural style, it won't integrate with any future use. I just don't see the value in holding on to this.
Not with a gem of a building that isn't a glass box, with no exposed parking, ready to go. Those terraces will be an amazing space. That is growth that needs to happen.

I love that Gr333n won't just be a lone tower, that it's just part of a dense cluster.

I don't see why it couldn't be fixed up and repurposed but I agree. It doesn't hold overwhelming value. I wont be losing any sleep over this.

I'll dearly miss the club The MID more than whatever this is, or was. And for how often I used to frequent that club (sometimes 3 times a week for years) I honestly don't even recognize this forgettable warehouse that we're loosing. So as long as there is no Raskal flats country "Out of touch with the area developing area bullshit" then I'll be OK if a highrise replaces literally all of this. Trust me. Fulton Market is about to get so many "warehouse" industrial look alike, ground up buildings that losses like this wont matter.
