A year or two from now, when the Bentham is finished, I want to see a before and after photo of that block. The Marlowe, Cedar St Lofts, and Bentham all built in a 3-4 year timeframe. Can we get that on a few more blocks in River North?

How do you figure? This thing is just a basic glass box with no refinement, and has 53 parking spots for only 31 units.

Investors planning Fulton Market's largest hotel yet

A venture of New York-based DDG and Chicago-based Marc Realty is planning to redevelop a dairy supply industrial facility at 1234 W. Randolph St. into a 13-story hotel with at least 250 rooms, according to an investment document promoting the project.

The $105 million development would be operated by New York-based Standard Hotels, marking the chain's first Standard hotel brand location in the Midwest, according to the document from real estate crowdfunding platform Prodigy Network. New York-based Prodigy is aiming to raise $55 million toward the project with an eye toward acquiring the current industrial property on the site this year and opening the hotel in 2021, the document said.

Sources familiar with the project said the DDG-led venture plans to purchase unused density allowance from City Winery next door for the nearly half-acre site to be able to develop a 175,000 square foot building, which is larger than it could be with the building's current zoning.

The Randolph Street property is owned by 94-year-old dairy product company New Dairy, which put the site up for sale in 2016 and marketed it as a redevelopment opportunity.

New York-based Standard International announced last week that it has lined up plans to open 12 new Standard hotels around the world, with Chicago as its only new planned location in the United States.

The plan for the Chicago Standard includes a second-floor garage, a gym and event spaces, according to the investment document. The building would be the closest hotel to the United Center on the Near West Side and will also "have different bars and restaurants representative of the operating brand," the document said.

Ogden Avenue? There will need to be some real density on both sides and some pedestrian improvements to jump that I think.

I walked by 717 S Clark street today to find fencing around the site, sanitation moving in, and machinery moving dirt around. That was fast. Now can someone please renovate the buildings on the west side of Clark so they're not all condemned?

Other that the parking lot on the corner, there's just one left. The ArtCraft building is in the final stages of being renovated which just leaves the small garage-ish building which will solve the problem itself by falling down in the next big wind. Everything else is converted or newly built. What really needs to go is the rest of the EAST side.
