Going to be a bit of an edgelord with my opinion on this, but here goes:

Telus Sky is overrated and gets attention because it's different, not because it's great. 20 years from now Telus Sky will have the same effect that those overwrought pomo towers from the 80s and 90s do, they look really outdated these days. Sort of how the Hyatt looks in the skyline now, although maybe not quite that bad.

By contrast, Brookfield Place is a tour de force that will be a point of pride in the skyline for however long it stands. It's as close to perfect as office towers get in this country. It doesn't try to be flashy but that's part of the appeal... it demonstrates excellent design in an understated way.

That is SO presumptuous. I love Telus Sky because it's great and also because it's different.

It's very sculptural, so I don't think it will suffer being un-trendy like so many buildings can be.

If Telus Sky were just trendy and gimmicky it would be a box with irregularly placed balconies.

Incorrect on the former, correct on the latter...IMHO, of course.

I was wondering what those cranes were when I saw the photo last night, thanks. Hopefully those twins look okay in terms of cladding...I can't trust Menkes with that. Their project on Eglinton and Redpath is an abomination, yet their nearby Harbour Plaza project looks great, aside from the awful base.

The Toronto projects are all at the beginning phase. so boring..

Right now, I really want The One to speed up, but the foundation work will take a while. Other than that for CIBC, I can't wait for the cladding, but that as well might be a few months out.

We have to be patient.

Patience for some haha. Apparently the Well is now going above ground, saw it on UT while on google search. Also, the PJ condo project is above ground...both projects will make some great progress this year. 2221 Yonge is now around the 6th floor...along with Pivot at Yonge and Sheppard. This year and next year will be intriguing for sure, and heck, it'll be exciting to see the second phase of Bay Park, it'll have a huge impact from Union.

Depends... residences and the food hall won't be open for another year, but the exterior is essentially complete.

The Con elevators are supposed to start to be dismantled in the next few months I believe. Thankfully I don't have to ride them anymore.

A great perspective on how tall Stantec is.

I think Telus Sky is superb and will still be viewed as one of the best of its era. That said, not everyone is going to like buildings that break with tradition.

Is that black band (venting?) under the crown a permanent feature? Not really a fan of that.
