maybe the research will stay put but commercially aspects would almost certainly be sent out to S SF and Genentech (the US pharma component)

Bummer about Airs Appliance.

Those guys were great.

There are a bunch of crap storefronts that could stand to go on that block.

They are going somewhere else in the city. I forget where exactly from the sign, but not going out of business.

Streetview

EDIT: for those very curious, The Warehouse housed part of the Otis Elevator Company (1902-until the 1940's). This is the nomination for the building for the Register of Historic Places back in 2015. It has lots of interesting history about the Otis Elevator Company, and this entire block in Fishtown. https://www.phila.gov/historical/Documents/1115-27%20Frankford%20Ave%20nomination%20FINAL.pdf

You sure about that 1220 Hamilton St. one? The current buildings there look relatively new.

Yep. It was posted a few weeks ago. This is the building that held the Rainbow store. East Chestnut continues to march forward with this and the demo of the garage on the 1100 block across from the Collins. There is also some further store turnover/upgrades in the making on these blocks.

The court building with probation, parole and pre-trial services at 1401 Arch started its move (over the course of 2 weeks) to 714 Market. So maybe the ambience around Broad and Arch will be improving and it will be worsening on East Market?

Not much ambiance on that stretch of East Marketnow...still, I'm wondering why the owner had to go with them there when they are working to spruce up htis or surrounding spots. I guess a secure income stream is a big enticement.

40th and Sansom

Construction for Tangen Hall, $46 million student entrepreneurial hub, will finish by 2020

Quote:
Penn announced plans to complete Tangen Hall, the first student entrepreneurship hub at Penn, by August 2020 at a Board of Trustees meeting Thursday.

Tangen Hall's construction will cost $46.35 million and will span 68,000 square feet, KSS Architects partner Petar Mattioni announced at the meeting. The seven-story building's creation was announced in October 2018 and will be located at the intersection of 40th and Sansom streets. Construction will begin in May 2019.

The building will house the Penn Wharton Entrepreneurship program, which provides faculty advising, financial support, and entrepreneurship courses to Penn students looking to establish their own startups. The hall will also create spaces for collaboration between Wharton, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, and the School of Design.
