This is fast digging. I notice office tower excavations are generally a lot faster than condo ones. Guess actually making money only comes when the building is completed, and you don't want to keep good high-paying tenants waiting too long.

I guess that explains why the first is a luffing crane in a relatively open area.

I've been wondering if they will add another luffing crane to this site or would they choose to go with a regular tower crane. The placement of the base of the unit and the space in general I think they will put another luffing crane though.

The base sort of looks smaller than the one used on the first crane.

When I went by yesterday I saw a machine projecting a stream of something into the pit. At first I thought it was concrete but when I went around to the alley side to have a look I saw that it was rocks, as in large gravel. I don't recall ever seeing something like that before.

Stone Slinger! (may or not be Tm'd) They're a high-speed conveyor belt system, able to shoot those stones (or sand or dirt, etc) a good distance, with great accuracy. When I first discovered them, I'd just seen the trucks driving around, and was pretty impressed when I saw it in action, shooting stone through a wall opening, forming a nice neat pile inside.

Homer Street is closed for another crane lift this morning. It looks like the second crane construction, although I didn't see any mast or jib elements yet.

Core doesn't look as beefy as I thought it would
- given that all the steel cubes will be cantilevered off of it (I think).
May get thicker walls closer to grade.
