Maybe they can find cheaper rent/lease to pay workers more?

I don't agree with that. I think retail should be everywhere, especially when there is a high concentration of people living in the area.

Amazing Bentwood would be destination retail.
Concord Brentwood retail would be neighborhood retail.
The different customer bases would have different types of stores.

Probably used here because they have 4 towers going up side-by-side.

Might also be because the site's position and proximity to the skytrain guideway and the highway are limiting factors to the cranes' swing/turn radii.

I'm not sure what the placement of the cranes are relative to whichever end the loading area of the site will be located, but in cases where the cranes can't swing or turn into traffic like that, they opt for that sort of crane.

Good point. They may not have been able to get airspace rights for crane swing over the SkyTrain guideway due to safety concerns.

You can even see in that map that the turning radius extents (the dotted circles) just graze, but don't cross over the highway and the skytrain guideway a bit farther up.

So as Officedweller called it, they probably didn't get the rights to swing over.

I'm guessing a regular crane would have a much wider turning radius crossing into the highway and that was probably a no-no.

Also the loading to the site seems like it's going to be through that access entry fromt he highway just east of Beta Avenue or from Juneau street all the way around (Yukon Crescent seems to be a cul-de-sac).

My pics Feb 24, 2019

Was trying to get as close a possible, all I can see is that pit still empty from the angle shown on pictures.

Do you have any idea how deep that pit is?

Because from what I can tell (especially from that first picture), it seems like a couple of storeys (at least 3 or more or so) deep, which would seem to indicate a below grade or underground parkade.

I'm only asking because I seem to recall a couple of people on here not that long ago who were adamant that the parking for this project wouldn't be underground and that most of it would be above ground on account of the "stilts" design for the towers and podium.

This isn't to say that all the parking will be underground, but it seems fairly obvious (if what I'm seeing is correct) that a significant chunk of the parkade will indeed be underground with some of it being above ground.

Whew! Imagine what it'll look like when it's all built out! (worth taking into consideration Metrotown, too)

Its seems to be very deep. I’m positive that will be underground parking.

As I was wating my bus yesterday I did crane recount and it appears that there are 14 cranes in Brentwood as of Feb 26, 2019.

Took this photos yesterday. Posting just links for now because I can not get bb code on an iPad from flikr.
Anyways you can now see how deep it is and how little progress has been achieved. Also you can see that they already started diging pit for tower 3 and 4.

This project seems very slow to start up compare to others in the area. Think Lumina went on sale much later and they already have 15+ floors, they also have 2 towers going up at the same time. I realize speed does not equate quality. Concord Pacific certainly has the power and money, no need to procrastinate??

What would be a good estimate on the completion of this tower? When phase 1 units were selling, the tentative completion date was Q1 2020... looks impossible at this point.

For Tower 1.

Its excavated and starting to get formed up.

5 months to ground level from here.

That's July.

42 floors at an average of floor a week plus mechanical level say 45 weeks.

That's about March 2020 to top out the tower.

You then have 3 months to finish glazing, and mechanical level work.

That's May.

6 months for interior finishes.

That's September 2020.

Few things go little late, little slow, Q1 2021 doesn't seem too unrealistic.

Anyone think it looks odd that there are columns formed but the surrounding excavation seems rather uneven or incomplete?
