So, does that mean more than 1 skyscraper will be built on this super block?

I don’t think it’s crazy to think we could set two different building on the block. I’d be happy with the same level of street activation and/or pocket park similar to the development currently housing Accenture. Obviously two tiers would be a lot more exciting than another midrise along the entire block. IMO if they want to build midrises, build it along northside or closer toward west midtown. They have taller buildings recently constructed on campus.

It's possible but the plan seemed to be a very preliminary at the time of this article last September. Also I think when they use the term "tower" they simply mean two buildings but they might be buildings that many consider to be more of a mid-rise.

Quote:
Tech Square Phase III will be located on the northwest corner of West Peachtree and Fifth streets. Initial programming envisions a two-tower complex for the first phase.

Phase III has an estimated cost of about $200 million and would provide more than 400,000 gross square feet. The earliest the building could open would be 2022.

Ah okay, so the press release says that they can’t even start planning or design until July 2019, so there will be little movement of this one for a while. Bummer.

I'm confused, the street address for 712 W. Peachtree isn't 5th and W. Peachtree, it's 3rd and W. Peachtree. So it doesn't appear to be GTech's 5th and W. Peachtree parcel unless I'm missing something?

Also this confusion would have never happened if 7xx W. Peachtree was between 7th and 8th street like every other city ...

712 WP is Portman’s 3rd project in the stretch of midtown from CODA, Anthem, to this 712 just north of 3rd street. This is unfortunately getting traction as Portman’s third phase in tech square.

Unrelated, there is Georgia Tech’s Tech Square Phase 3. This is located at 5th & Spring & WP. This project is the image posted above where GT is looking to expand 400k sq ft. To add to the confusions, GTTSP3 has two phases.

Ooh.kay I think I understand now. Thanks for clarifying.

Huh. Not even proper address numbering by streets would have saved us from confusion.

ABC article on the convention Hotel

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news...-hotel.html?iana=hpmvp_atl_news_headline
Quote:
Signia Hilton will flag a roughly 1,000-room hotel connected to the Georgia World Congress Center, adding a stunning tower overlooking Mercedes-Benz Stadium and its greenspace, the Home Depot Backyard. It’s the latest addition to downtown’s bustling tourism district that already is luring world-class events, such as Super Bowl LIII.

The Signia Hilton in Atlanta will feature a dramatic entrance off Northside Drive lined with trees. State officials believe the hotel could be a significant catalyst for economic development in Vine City, a neighborhood that long has sat in the shadow of sports stadiums.

Work continues on the final design and cost. State lawmakers have already approved the GWCCA to issue bonds for the project for up to $400 million.

The project could break ground late this year. Construction would take about 26 months.

With new renderings...

"Build it quicker... don't build it"

Kind of like the equivalent of "it's too crowded, nobody goes there anymore" or "the food was terrible... and such small portions!"

The one in Indianapolis isn't a good match for this site next to MBS, it would come off looking tacky. This isn't Dubai.

This design is elegant and understated, and Gensler isn't know as designers of shit.

As far as Indianapolis goes, they have a more bustling and vibrant Downtown than we do. This contant trashing of anyplace not named Atlanta is pretty juvenile.
