Now if only the O4W GA Power parcel would begin development! I am itching for that project to break ground considering all the foot traffic and residences nearby.

Apparently this really was the plan. Can't say I've never seen it now

I'm assuming you're referring to all the 8th and West Peachtree posts?

I'm super-excited about this. Used to play a game: find all the intersections around town where all four corners had reasonably dense construction with buildings addressing the sidewalks properly. There were surprisingly few intersections with all four. West Peachtree & 8th was on my "very least likely" list back then. I'm so happy it's going to be one of the best "Complete Corners" in town.

-Midtown Union LD has been "Ready to Issue" for a few months now, so who knows...
-8th & West LD is "Ready to Issue" as of 1/31, still haven't paid fees
-640 Peachtree (Courtyard Hotel by Fox) LD is "Ready to Issue" as of 2/13
-712 W. Peachtree LD permit was submitted today (2/19)

Projects in Midtown still waiting for permits:
-Norfolk Southern - LD almost complete
-Student Housing on 3rd & Spring
-Peachtree & 8th

Anything else outstanding?

There's no clue what that apartment building is going to be yet next to Peachtree and 8th right? Someone said it sold.

Portman moving forward on third Tech Square tower

By Amy Wenk
Staff Writer, Atlanta Business Chronicle

A veteran Atlanta developer is gearing up for its third tower at Midtown’s Technology Square.

Portman Holdings LLC filed for a land development permit to build 712 West Peachtree, a 23-story project set to rise at 3rd and West Peachtree streets.

The tower would join Portman’s two other projects under construction on the neighboring blocks, Coda and the Anthem Technology Center. In total, Portman is bringing around 1.4 million square feet of new office space to Tech Square.

Construction on 712 West Peachtree could start by early summer. No tenants have been announced yet for the project. But a Portman executive previously told Atlanta Business Chronicle that the leasing momentum of Coda and Anthem spurred this next phase of development.

“We’ve had so much interest from those two projects from local tenants looking to relocate, as well as out-of-town tenants looking to come into Atlanta and capture the talent at Georgia Tech,” Charles Pinkham III, senior vice president of Portman Holdings, said in August 2018. “We feel like the opportunity is ripe to continue the design and development of this parcel.”

Also consider that Norfolk Southern Corp. (NYSE: NSC) is relocating its headquarters on the next block at Spring and 3rd streets, in a project being developed by Cousins Properties Inc.

John Portman & Associates is the architect for 712 West Peachtree. The building will feature layers of glass and metal that differ from, but still complement, the Coda and Anthem towers, according to plans presented last year.

That one is starting to feel D.O.A. to me. I hope I'm wrong because if those abandoned buildings remain then that block will turn into even more of a blight than it already was.

Ummm what you described is not what happened. They finished intalling the fence a few days after starting. Why run so quickly to the "D.O.A." line?

The fact that you perceive W. Peachtree as the backside of Coda kinda says it all about the design of the project IMO.
