Thanks for more - and ongoing - pictures, Georgia Peanuts ! They each are worth a thousand words.
No, it only went slightly further to the left of my picture, looks like they had just started putting it up. I'll walk by it later today and see if they got any further along.

This would have been cool but no. This is another Dezhu project.

At what price point does the the cost eclipse the public benefit? Who's going to guarantee the project costs and/or be responsible for inevitable cost overruns? Really like the concept just not yet sold on the financing model.

Also, how ironic is it that CAP is looking into a cap?
I believe the Stitch project is one that could finally spur real development downtown. The area in just about all directions is essentially derilect two blocks or more every way.

Its fair what is the cost, but Midtown Downtown will never be fully realized unitl something like this happens.

Make a pitch back to Amazon that they help get this done, I believe this will change the core the way the Beltline is changing the trails throughout ATL

Looks nice. I wonder what they'll put in the "store front".

Yes Daiquiri Factory has been shuttered for a couple of months now. The gold store and cleaners south of the Factory are also closed, and I think they've been closed longer. I'm pretty sure the re-purposed houses that turned into offices further East on 7th have been closed for a long time (the last one I remember is 2 Girls and a Deal real estate agent which has been closed/relocated for over a year I believe).

And the Belmere has been condemned for code violations. Unfortunately I don't believe this project extends that far up, so that building will continue to be an eyesore for years to come.

Public records show that "The Belmere" 28 7th St building/property - .1458 acres - was sold in Oct 2017 for almost $1.7 million.

Surely, something is planned to protect that recent very substantial apartment investment, right ?

Belmere isn't part of that tower though right?

I swear I saw Belmere for sale last summer.

Here is the site as of 5pm last night (Wednesday 2/13/19). You can see the small section of fence on 7th. They were filming Zombie-land 2 around here so I'm not sure if the fence/abandoned buildings were for filming or if this is the first section of the larger construction fence.

UPDATE
Photos: Buckhead’s tallest new tower in a decade lends unique Atlanta perspectives

The spiky concrete pieces at left will bear a unique architectural fin at Atlanta’s latest Icon tower.

Buckhead’s tallest new high-rise since 2008’s Sovereign condos has topped out, with expectations that apartments will start leasing in late spring or early summer, according to developers.

Icon Buckhead stands 35 stories over Peachtree Road, just south of Lenox Square, with an architectural fin in the works that will run up and over the roof, promising a distinctive touch among so many new high-rises of concrete and glass.

Work continues on the glass facade at street level. Expect the retail spaces to span three floors here

There has been work going on in the apartment building for months. The prior tenants are thankfully, gone. The trash has been cleaned up, all the windows have been replaced and once in a while I see lights on in the evening and hear a power saw running. Whatever is going on, they are not in a big rush to get it completed.

Views toward the Sovereign condo tower, which at 665 feet is Buckhead’s tallest—and the tallest built anywhere in Atlanta in the 2000s.

How the length of the project will front Peachtree Road, just south of Lenox Square. Renderings courtesy of Related Group
