Beats the hell out of me. SOM put a ton of effort into the current proposal and it's gone pretty far down the pipeline. Alderhack Riley complained about a few minor details which we assume will be ironed out; ie podium size. There is nothing to lead one to believe the two-tower design has been scrapped.

I love it. Reminds me a lot of the unbuilt 7 S Dearborn SOM was commissioned to design:

I've looked at it only about 30 times between yesterday and today and it's already growing on me.

Full size.

Honestly if they ditch the current design for a taller new one, I wouldn't mind if they just built the Spire.

Looks like another homage to "Sears" tower. Kind of interesting but not as good as the Spire or previous Related proposals. That height right there at the mouth of the river would be unbelievable at 1500 + feet.

When the proposal was at 2000 feet I wonder how easily that could have been seen from Indiana or Michigan.

Count me as one who is less than impressed. For those that have been around a while, its been 14 years or so since the original Spire was proposed. Why does it feel like we are back at square one again with these fairy tale renderings?

Lets stick to one plan that is economically feasible and get it done. Im on board with the two towers.

The only thing throwing me off of this is that it's on an axis. If they set it facing due east I'd be down.
