I would vote Obama again if given the chance. Love Stacey Abrams. AND I also believe Bottoms needs to get to fixing Atlanta's roads STAT. They're embarrassing.

Back to development - that Westside proposal is kind of....odd. I'm sure it would come out looking plastic as hell.

It baffles me that many whites think that only people of color can (and do) play the "race card", while refusing to recognize that white privilege has existed since the founding of these United States of America.

So, I ask: Do whites ever play the race card?
Answer: Every waking moment of their lives.
From which neighborhoods to live in, which doctor or dentist to choose, or which schools they send their children to, and where to buy products and services... The list is endless.

Thanks to Dear Leader (Trump), race is front and center, and 2019 will be the year that America deals with its racial problem.

Buckle up, this political cycle is gonna be one for the history books.

Back to development news...

When will we see the first signs of the Gulch moving forward? Any guesses?

Anyone know the location of this project? Best guess from me is somewhere here next to the new Westside Reservoir Park, and I assume the path/sidewalk shown in the renderings is the Beltline:

Revised vision for downtown’s highway-capping ‘Stitch’ to emerge in coming weeks
A plan to introduce healthier, more active spaces above downtown’s Connector appears to be not only still alive but moving forward.

An early vision for what could grow into a $400 million development sewing together three-fourths of mile of downtown with green space first emerged back in 2016. The concept is fittingly called “the Stitch.”

If fully realized, however—and that could take a decade or two—The Stitch could yield between $1.1 to $3.1 billion in value creation, CAP estimates.

According to a statement by CAP officials, that would “generate $21 to $58 million in new revenue, and increase the city’s bonding capacity by $308 to $847 billion by increasing the value of existing properties and catalyzing the redevelopment of underutilized properties.

TSW is more of a planning/landscape architecture firm so their illustartions are more to communicate density and opportunity than actual design/architecture.

Even with the increase in property values and expected increase in revenue, I still wonder whether there is enough new revenue to pay for the infrastructure. Sure the park that is created will have public value but we're talking about creating a park for hundreds of millions of dollars here... At what price point does the the cost eclipse the public benefit? Who's going to guarantee the project costs and/or be responsible for inevitable cost overruns? Really like the concept just not yet sold on the financing model.

Also, how ironic is it that CAP is looking into a cap?

Exactly, and the use of different building styles is likely completely intentional. Don't like the way one building looks, look at another and then focus on the overall concept and not the design of any individual building.

Yeah I figured as much. Still interesting to see a long term plan this large this far west, even if right on the future park and beltline. Hopefully doesn’t devolve into a bunch of 5 floor stick built apartment buildings by the end...

Has anyone ever heard of the developers, Terminus Development Group? A quick google search reveals that the LLC formed in 2018, and it doesn't look like they have a website. I assume that this is their first project, which is odd given the large scope. This seems fishy.

Why bulldoze the Medical Arts Building? That's one that's sincerely worth saving.

Huh? Last I heard (from Octoberish) they were working to preserve the building, not bulldoze it.
