I'm hoping they're very highly frosted glass. In one of the close-up shots, I think you can slightly see through them to see the windows on the other side.

The shots being blurry might be making it harder to notice.

The silver parts are solid coated aluminum. They’re installing a slab edge cover in the same finish along each floor. There should be a panel of glass installed above the aluminum panel. The aluminum is only an accent on the sides of the tower. The rest of the balconies are glass. They didn’t go with perforations since they cause the tower to scream.

Well, poorly designed perforations do. The ones on the Harbour Plaza condos in Toronto don't scream, as far as I've heard.

Pics by me, today:

Balcony edge cladding:

And they've turned the lot next door into an official parking lot! Yay!

I don't mind the aluminum paneling on the balconies. The way it arcs, narrowing at the top, is a nice touch.

Glass seems great until you realize how filthy it can get. I don't know if it gets washed periodically on many residential towers, but my building does not do that. The glass looks ok from the view of an outsider at a distance from the building, but from inside my unit it just looks dirty as f@ck, and I'm not about to risk life and limb trying to clean it myself.

Isn't there a law in hamilton that stats you can't tear a property down and then replace it with a parking lot? Or is this ok because this lot is eventually going to be built upon by the same landowner?

Also I see the hamilton store is still looking derelict as ever after that storm ripped its cladding off..

I contacted Jason Thorne about this parking lot situation. He said he would contact by-law.

Yeah 'cuz last I checked you're not allowed, hence why the building beside the pigott building was never converted to a parking lot after it was demolished..

looks great! The angled design of the balcony faces is exactly what they depicted in the documents approved at building permit time.

is it my imagination or is the reflection from the inside of the grey balconies causing the blue glass to look grey-ish now?

Eh, I guess I can see that a little bit. Not by much though.

Could just be the angle of the lighting - the left side of the last few "finished" balconies doesn't have that grey look on the glass, but it does seem to stop on that level sooo maybe as well.

Loving a lot of the subtle elements being added to this. It also very much breaks up the stalinist feel this block has had for decades. One can almost feel like they are in toronto looking at this shot.

Will be very transformative especially when MAC tower goes up on same block. Although the new non conforming parking lot is going to seem like a concrete green monster, when it is walled in on two sides!
