Yes you can, this was taken from the US Bank tower(it was taken into the sun which amplifies the haze):

On a really, really clear day; you can see 5 of the channel islands and Mt. Palomar from the San Gabriel front range peaks.

Sometime this week, after the last storm blows out (by Tuesday/Wed) and while the air is still crystal clear, there will be a great opportunity to take photos of the downtown skyline with all the new buildings, and the snowy San Gabriel Mountains behind them. If I still lived in LA I'd be one of the photographers. I'm told the Kenneth Hahn Park overlook in the Baldwin Hills is one of the best places to take such photos of DTLA/mountains (maybe people can share other such good DTLA/mountain view spots). Some of these photos should be spectacular if anyone takes them. The snow level is supposed to get down to 3000 feet in this last storm, so the mountains will be spectacular.
Hopefully people will post these photos here! Getting a good photo will ease the pain of losing to the Patriots.

Photographers--amateur & pro--get yee up to an overlook this week!
I'm planning on heading to Kenneth Hahn Park Wednesday afternoon if the mountains are visible.

Great! Take lots of pics. Sunset pics should be spectacular too, if there are still clouds around. Some of these pics could be postcard quality. Snow level could be 3000 feet or lower, so the mountain backdrop to DTLA will be Chamber of Commerce, Ansel Adams quality if the clarity and lighting is right. PLEASE POST THEM HERE. Photographers--get yee up to Kenneth Hahn Park midweek.

Speaking about postcards, I haven't been to any tourist attractions where they sell postcards yet. Have they updated LA's skyline postcards or are they still the same ones from the late 90's-mid 00's?

^ Gorgeous. The skyline almost mimics the mountains from that angle.

Are there any more entrants? Wednesday could even be better for pics from Kenneth Hahn Park & elsewhere. Sunset shots can spectacular too with the colors, and clouds. By Friday, the window may have closed if all the clouds are gone, some of the snow melts and the air becomes a bit less clear. But hopefully thephoto window will persist through the weekend to give more people the chance to get up there. Glory and honor awaits, and maybe an iconic postcard/calendar photo that will live for the ages

I'll add my entry from Kenneth Hahn, this is a portion of a panorama.

_2060269-Pano.jpg by BillinGlendaleCA, on Flickr

I should note that it was pretty busy up there, especially the one ridge that jets out the closest to the city at the north part of the park. I'll share a secret with y'all, the best view up there is by the MLK monument, the top of Mt. San Antonio is directly above the US Bank tower from that angle. The MLK monument is north of the parking lot along the path that goes around the bowl.

Excellent. The new skyline & sunset Alpenglow over the snowy San Gabriels. Do the Himalayas look much better from Katmandu?

Great panorama shot from Mt. Wilson to Baldy & Cucamonga Peak on the right. Look at all that green. Any more rain & bracken ferns will start growing. It would be great to have a panorama pic going from the ocean on the west, Century City, Hollywood, DTLA all the way to Mt.San Jacinto. Would probably have to combine three or more photos.

A 52-story had been planned there for awhile, we just hadn't seen the renderings yet.

A genuine trifecta. Great architectural design, Major skyline addition, and Set in an area of Downtown that will really make a difference. COOL ! .
